This great shot from photographer Alex Evers shows that Joel Rosario did not have his left foot in the stirrup coming out of the gate and probably was one of the reasons for Rock Your World’s terrible start .
“So, when Joel came available. … You know, these are agonizing decisions and not easy. I want to be very clear, I think the world of Rispoli and I think the world of his riding. He's a terrific rider on our circuit and he's been a great addition to California and will continue to be. But, I had to make a call and this is the call I made. … History will tell whether I'm right or wrong.
Rispoli must be thinking " Hell, I could have done that ! "
Considering how he beat Medina Spirit at SA....does that mean these two should have run 1-2 around the track at CD had he broken on top?
Not the conclusion I'd come to. Given a circumstance where Medina had pressure on the front end can we assume the last 1/16 would have told a different story ? I'd say yes. Johnny V was not holding back on Medina here.

I have a question about this kind of photography.
Was this done from some distance away with a high powered lens? Would there be photographs of the other gates, all 19 of them in this race for the starters/jockeys? Or does the Evers guy sit on a boom of some sort or what?
