On Oaks Day and Derby Day the Superfecta is a $1.00 minimum wager. Trifecta, Pick-3, Pick-4 and Pick-5 wagers are $.50 minimum straight bets. The Derby City-6 is a $.20 minimum wager. The Exacta is a $2.00 minimum straight bet with $1.00 boxes and wheels. The special Oaks Day/Derby Day Pick-6 is a $2.00 minimum wager and will be a separate event from the regular Oaks Day card.

I'm a little bummed that the Oaks and Derby pick 6s are the 20 cent minimum. I'm fine with that on other days but The pick 6 I hit with Orb that paid 17k, probably would have paid about $170 not 1700 if the 20 cent had been in effect then. I t was an incredibly formful sequence that really only had one long shot in it. Whether its for $2 or .20 I'm still just going to put from $12-20 into. I'll get a lot more coverage for that but the potential reward is dramatically less, I would say that the payoffs in most cases are much less than 10 percent as much, which is what one might expect from just the base amount difference. In addition there is no consolation for 5 of 6 with the .20 pick 6.
On the other hand I guess I've already had my pick 6 luck and really shouldn't complain.

Eight pick 5's is pretty wild. seems like there was 2 oaks day, maybe 3 derby day the last few years.

First glance at the Oaks overnight doesn't have me salivating and ready to attack so I'll pick my spots as well. For the purses, I thought there would be more ready to go and try for the purses.
Race 1: 7 fillies going 1M in a $118k Alw n/w 2
Race 2: 9 fillies going 1M in a $115k MSW
Race 3: 9 going 6f in a $118k Alw nonwinners of 2
Race 4: 10 fillies going 1 1/16 $118k Alw opt claimer
Race 5: 11 going 1 1/8 turf $124K Alw opt claimer
From the stakes perspective
The Alysheba at 1 1/16 drew only 6 with Maxfield at 4/5
Aunt Pearl makes her 3YO debut in the Edgewood for 3YO fillies going 1 1/16 on the turf and is 4/5 in a 7 horse field
The La Trioinne drew 7 going 1 1/16 as a $500k G1 drew a solid field of 7 and I think Shedaresthedevil will be favored but some nice ones in the race.
The Eight Belles drew a nice field of 12 3yo Fillies going 7f and should be a great betting race
The $250k Turf Sprint going 5 1/2f drew 11 but with an inch plus of rain Wed/Thur, who knows who stays in
Very solid group for the Oaks for sure and can't wait to play this one.
I usually try to get a bit of action on the final races of the card on Oaks/Derby days and looks like a good place to focus again this year.
Overflow field of fillies going 1m on the turf for $121k in the 12th. 12 in the body, 3 AEs, and 2 MTO
$115k MSW for fillies/mares going 6f also drew 12 with 1 AE
