Champion Miler Palace Pier returns to action in the Group-II Mile Stakes today, tuning up for the Lockinge S. (GI) at Newbury in May. Also, Chiasma, a full-sister to Frankel, makes her debut in Race 6 going 10F.

Sandown Race 2- 1m Esher Cup Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-100)
#1- Naamoos (7-1) foundered on soft turf in October, but returned with a solid victory in the Royal Mile at Musselburgh last time. #5- Dingle (6-1) ran on well for third behind well-regarded Mithras last week going 7F, wheels right back. Progressive colt should be right there at the line.
EX- 1,5/1,2,4,5 WIN- 5
Bonus: Doncaster Race 3- 6f Handicap (Class 3) (3yo 0-95)
3yo sprinters going 6F. #3- Popmaster (5-2) is two necks short of remaining undefeated in four starts. Transferred his terrific AW form to the turf at Pontefract earlier in the month, needs to have an alert start as he has shown gate issues. #7- Seven Brothers (4-1) began his career with two victories before finding deeper waters in GII at York. This test should suit him. Spreading underneath.
EX- 3,7/All
Sandown Race 3- 1m2f Gordon Richards Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (4yo+)
I really like #4- Hukum (5-1) in here and will bet him to win if the m/l price holds. Won the King George V S. at Royal Ascot, then took down a GIII at Newbury before running a close-up fifth in the St. Leger (GI), which may have been too far for him.#6- Waldkonig (5-2) has done little wrong in four tries, gets Frankie aboard today and will look to build on impressive return race at Pontefract.
EX- 4,6/2,3,4,5,6 WIN- 4 (>=5-1)
Sandown Race 4- 1m Mile (Group 2) (Class 1) (4yo+)
#4- Palace Pier (1-2) finally came back to Earth when third in the QEII (GI) over deep ground at Ascot in October. 4yo Kingman colt debuts with big expectations for this season, and it will be fun to watch Frankie go through the gears in what figures to be a tactical affair.
No bets.
Sandown Race 5- 1m2f Classic Trial (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo)
Unusually wide-open Group-race for 3yo with top-level aspirations. #6- Lone Eagle (5-1) is a progressive Galileo colt which traded victories with #7- Recovery Run (8-1) last year. The latter goes out for the red-hot Balding/Murphy combo and the m/l odds are quite generous.
EX- 6,7/3,4,6,7,8,10
Good luck if you play!
