Seven divisional championship races with highly competitive fields. Last hurrah before turf flat season starts in earnest on Saturday at Musselburgh (Scotland).
LIN R1- 2m All-Weather Marathon Championships Conditions Stakes $103,000 (Class 2) (4yo+)
#4- Rainbow Dreamer (3-1) has an admirable AW record (10/6-1-1) and is as consistent as they come. Was even more dominant in this division last winter, but lockdown came and the races were cancelled. Peaking at the right time and should take a lot of beating.
EX- 4/1,2,7
LIN R2- 7f All-Weather Fillies' And Mares' Championships Conditions Stakes $103,000 (Class 2) (4yo+)
#2- Fizzy Feet (9-2) loves the course (9/5-1-0) and has held her own in open company this winter. Returns to f&m only, front-runner should have a lot to say about the outcome. #3- Indie Angel (6-5) finished off her 3yo campaign with a solid win in Listed stakes here in October. Cheveley Park runner is still improving and the Gosden yard is currently in top form. Martin Harley has some quality mounts over the first four races.
EX- 2,3/1,2,3,6
LIN R3- 6f All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes $103,000 (Class 2) (4yo+)
Wide open sprint contest where every single entrant has credentials to hit the board. #1- Aberama Gold (8-1) hasn't missed a dance in this division over the winter, always in the mix stalking the leaders. All in today from inside draw. #12- Venturous (7-1) has found a new lease on life on the AW (14/6-2-0), is more of a dash (5F) type but won at 6F against this bunch last out. Run this race ten times and get ten different winners.
EX- 1,12/1,3,4,5,7,12
LIN R4- 6f 3 Year Old All-Weather Championships Conditions Stakes $103,000 (Plus 10 Race) (Class 2) (3yo)
#5- Mighty Gurkha (7-2) took trainer Watson and Hollie Doyle to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at KEE but they ran up the track. Can't argue that AW surface is where he's best right now (4/3-1-0). GIII-winner at Kempton last September, the class of the field. #6- Victory Heights (7-1) could be overlooked here, beat top choice by a nose in December, unraced since. Picks up weight against that one today, however. Taking the optimistic view that he will fire fresh and improve again. #4- Diligent Harry (2-1) has been progressive in his three starts, with two easy wins and a head second last time. Has every right to win this but hoping he's overbet and not quite up to the task.
EX- 5,6/1,4,5,6,8,9
LIN R5- 1m2f All-Weather Middle Distance Championships Conditions Stakes $137,000 (Class 2) (4yo+)
Short field, not much of a betting race. Will try to beat the classy favorite #2- Bangkok (6-5), hoping that his unsuccessful trip to the Saudi Cup has taken a bit out of him. #4- Forest of Dean (9-5) is the logical alternative for Team Gosden/Godolphin. Won the Winter Derby here in February, gets jockey change to Jamie Doyle.
EX- 4/1,5
LIN R6- 1m All-Weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes $103,000 (Class 2) (4yo+)
#6- Khuzaam (5-2) has never missed the exacta on AW, picks up a few pounds today but son of Kitten's Joy is still open to further improvement, trainer Varian is hitting on all cylinders. #8- Mums Tipple (7-2) may have finally returned to the form that characterized his first two starts, easily winning a Listed event last out going 7F. Still a ? at one mile, but would seem to be within his scope.
EX- 6,8/1,3,5,6,8
LIN R7- 7f All-Weather Championships Apprentice Handicap $34,500 (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)
Completely wide open affair with apprentice riders up getting various weight allowances. #4- Ayr Harbour (9-2) heads out for AW guru Mick Appleby off an easy New Year's Day win at Southwell. Gets 7lbs off with up-and-coming wunderkind Benoit De La Sayette aboard. #10- Count Otto (5-1) is no stranger to the winner's circle at Lingfield (14/5-1-1) and has flourished over the AW this winter. In peak form right now. Spread wide in this heat.
EX- 4,10/1,4,5,6,7,10,11,13
Good luck if you play!
