And now 2/3 of the legendary Motown group are gone (the unfortunate Florence Ballard having passed many years ago).
As I understand it Mary was to be the lead singer when Barry Gordy determined that Diana Ross was more dynamic. None the less Mary had a beautiful voice (and was a beautiful woman) and was key to the most popular girl group of all time by many measures. Classic hit after classic hit flowed after their breakthrough Where did our Love Go. I also like some of their songs after Diana left the group.
and without Diana and Florence replaced By Jean Terrell, sister of boxer Ernie Terrell, and Cindy Birdsong.
