Close call.
Adam Schefter @adamschefter
23m There were over 20 Chiefs players and staffers, including QB Patrick Mahomes, scheduled Sunday to get a haircut with the barber who tested positive for COVID, per sources. The Chiefs acted wisely and aggressively, and pulled the barber - mid-cut - once his test results came in.

Hey, was that Mahomes running for his life. I will say this, Brady is an amazing athlete, we may not see another like him in our lifetime. There are guys out there in sports, hockey players like Messier who won 6 stanley cups as a leader. However, Brady proved when he has the tools around him he wins period. I however, will go as far as to say that the defense was the real reason and bad coaching by 1st) the coaching by Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game. 2) Bad coaching by the Chiefs completely abandoned the run game in the first half. I realize both tackles were out, but how could you not see...that the Bucs front four is outstanding, but in a game where you know that pressure is going to be put on him when passing the football, I would have been attempting more running plays on 1st and 2nd Down. Instead of being 3rd and long, how about 3rd and manageable. 3) Discipline, dumb penalties taken and in particular Tyrone Matthieu...buddy no class and shut your mouth. Tom Brady gets preferential treatment by the refereeing, and they got preferential treatment again by the refereeing in the first half, but the referees called it, not like the NFC Championship game. The thing is you cannot tell me, a couple of flags could have been thrown for unsportsmanlike conduct on the Bucs in the first half and I am sure on a few of those long scrambles Mahomes had that there were grabs taking place down the field for which CBS decided not to pan in on the coverage downfield..hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm at least Fox did. It was also quite obvious that for all his wizard in the red zone, Andy Reid and off. coordinator had no answers in the red zone, they score one touchdown in the first half and they were only down one score. So Defense and Todd Bowles were the bigger story of their championship than Tom Brady.
And as far as Tampa Bay coming back to do it again, better think long and hard, they are old on the front line, old in the rec. corps. Football does not work like that.

Pretty accurate, chuck..... Mahomes was running for his life for 60 minutes, yet he threw some amazingly accurate passes on his way to the ground. He is a true superstar.
Tampa D was the story—front line and backfield. Kept everything in front of them. Bucs running game was steady throughout, and the KC D was worn down by late in the 3rd q.
Arians was the MVP imo
Two best wagering Super Bowls my way were with Tampa Bay winning. Back in the old days with bobtail, in a conversation with top handicapper and amazing personality Doug salvastore(remember him bobtail?), I picked the cold super bowl exacta 3 weeks before season end. And that was with a wild card dog winning the game.

As a Bucs fan , I agree that Champa Bay were helped by some questionable calls but they certainly deserved their win . KC relied too much on Mahomes making miraculous plays but the Tompa Bay defense were up to the task. As regards the MVP I have no problem with Brady winning it on the back of his three TDs and his overall game management.

The Tampa game play reminded me a whole lot of the NE games of old.
Brady & Gronk with supporting cast on Offense.
Good solid defensive team play. No huge stars but execute a good scheme with minimal penalties.
Keep it close early so you can run offense you want to run.
Get lead and then start to run it down their throats during the 2nd half while you run down the clock.

In their last three games, the Bucs shut down drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Patrick mahomes. I don’t believe any of their teams scored a 4th q touchdown
Very impressive!

I think the Chiefs made a mistake by rotating the lineman around playing different spots. Seems to me they should have kept the line intact and just used a third-string tackle. And to think I took the Chiefs and laid 3 points!

ESPN
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Patrick Mahomes is scheduled for surgery Wednesday for the turf toe injury that bothered the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback late in the season and throughout the NFL playoffs, a source confirmed to ESPN. Mahomes is expected to miss most of offseason work with the team but be full go by training camp, according to a source.

Clyde Edwards Hellaire had 9 carries for 64 yards, and yes the Chiefs should have run more- but that is Andy Reid and it is what he did all season long (I know because I had the talented CEH on my fantasy team and I was frustrated all year that they didn't give him the ball enough).
Tampa played a great all around game and the Chiefs penalties were legit I thought, when we could see a decent replay. The Chiefs were the 4th most penalized team in the league, so that too, was not out of character for them.
Brady might be the best team leader in organized sports history in terms of bringing out the best in his teammates. The Bucs did have talented receivers but Brady has made stars out of less talented receivers for years from Troy Brown, to Deion Branch, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, and others.
I was struck by something Leonard Fournette said after the game. When an interviewer noted how hard he ran, he said that Tom had talked to him before the game and said that KC was 31st in the league in yds given up to running backs after contact, so keep pushing when hit. Now you might think that hey, it's the Super Bowl, and he would do that as a matter of course, but Fournette thought it was significant enough to mention it.

This Doug? I never know he was doing sports too. When he was a teen he was one hellova handicapper - especially at Kentucky Derby time.

That was our boy, bobtail! An amazingly thorough teen handicapper. We had some amazing discussions and characters back in those days. Dinver Red brought me over to this site, then the power players here accused me of being both Dinver Red and spiderjohn. Bobtail can definitely clarify that we were(rip Dinver)two completely different individuals.

Indeed, There was only one Dinver and he had only two loves - the horses and his beloved Conn "Hussies". Dinver lived in New England and had a wood preservation business. Spider owned a small chain of supermarkets in the Cincinnati area. Another big difference between the two was that Dinver knew how to handicap. 8>)
