Crazy the impact of a trainer, 2 of my horses cleared 75k each last year but were claimed in Dec and (running at the same frequency ) are on pace for about 35k combined this year- BOTH with about 15 point drop in speed... praying for them to be claimed!!
Breezy Gust makes his next start on 3/15 at Parx in the same allowance class where he won last month. Hoping he can continue his good form at an estimated 2/5 price here on his way to the Breeders Cup Sprint in November. :-)
Nice week for my stable. Rush To The Castle planted his nose in the dirt leaving the gate at CT, wound up out of position and still ran huge for second and $6400. Breezy Gust went all the way at 1/5 with a 5 1/4 length score for back to back $34,400 wins. Not sure where Breezy's going next. Open allowance at Parx in 3 weeks at 6f? Up to Belmont for n3x? I'd love to see another shot at 5f or 5.5f on the turf.
$45,714 in March from three starts. I see the Page McKenney Handicap is at Parx on 4/27 for PA breds. Not sure if Breezy is dropped in the open allowance on 4/7 against his classy stablemate Arch Cat and the star of last year's champion Indypacer's 2020 winning stable Admiral Abe, who already has 2 wins in this class in 2021 and nearly $76,000 in earnings in the first three months. I'm sure Abe is going to run in the McKenney, so it'll be interesting to see if anyone wants to come back in 20 days and run both the open alw and the stake.
On a side note, the 9yo winning machine Mean Bean runs at Parx on 3/31. He's the WVa bred who ran down my stable's Rush To The Castle in the final yards on 2/3. His numbers suggest he's a few lengths behind Rock On Luke and Bird King, but at 8-1 he's worth a look. If he gets a chance to look Rock On Luke in the eye down the stretch, he will beat the favorite. He's 40-11-12-7 lifetime with $274,873 in earnings and has two interesting facts to him. He's never run in a graded stake and never been in for a tag. That has to be some kind of record these days. 39 of those 40 starts have been in West Virginia. His debut was on the turf at Pimlico in 2015. Nice seeing a 9yo still be competitive and I hope he makes it back safely.
