About ten or fifteen years ago I make a post on our board about a horse, who's name escapes me, that was entered into a turf race. The horse was coming back from an injury or a layoff and had only 3 career races. He was bred for the grass and I noted that his BRIS turf coefficient was 135 and posted that it was the highest I had ever seen in this continent. He won the race and paid over $30.00. In the Juvenile Turf, #10 Ebeko has a turf coefficient of 132, the 2nd highest I have ever seen. As most of you probably know my memory has been problematic since the stroke but regardless, 132 is very high.
I'm not touting this pony as a anything close to a lock and his PPs certainly would suggest he might not belong with this group but with a top trainer and probably the best grass rider in the country on top – I'm very interested.

My first look though at the Juv Turf I also liked Sealiway best but now I'm wavering after noting he's never run on firm turn and his most impressive effort was the win on heavy doing. Maybe, just maybe, he might not take to firm ground and coming out of hole-1 he might also get stuck behind horses. I'm not wagering on the Friday races but if I was I think I'd take a shot Pennsylvania – I mean Battleground.

I just wanted to mention that he (EKEBO) was vanned off the other day in the Eddie Logan Stakes at SA. I know many of you liked him a little. LMK if you hear anything further. Horse was only 2 years old. Sheesh. Does Peter Miller have a lot of these? I felt bad but haven't heard if horse is okay or not

Stay as far away from Mr Miller as possible. Personal knowledge.
L.A. Times Ebeko was in last rounding the far turn into the top of the stretch on the grass course when his leg broke and he went crashing to the turf. Jockey Joel Rosario also went to the ground but walked to the ambulance. He was taken off his mount in the next race but resumed riding with no apparent injuries. The injury to Ebeko was ruled too serious to repair and he was euthanized.

Might post about his "horsemanship" in the future. This is how he treats humans.
Trainer Peter Miller has been suspended for seven days, fined $2,500, and placed on probation through Oct. 31, 2019, by the Santa Anita stewards for his seventh disorderly conduct offense, according to a ruling released Sunday. The ruling describes Miller’s actions on Sept. 11, 2017, at San Luis Rey Downs as “aggressive/abusive behavior – derogatory words about licensee’s unborn baby.”
Miller must also undergo anger management through the Winners’ Foundation, the ruling states.
Steward Scott Chaney told drf.com that Miller did not show up to hearing on Monday. Chaney added that the licensee was seven months pregnant at the time of the incident, and had previously been employed by Miller.
“Neither he nor his attorney showed up. We had four witnesses. What we were told was really ugly,” Chaney said.

bobtailnagI was paging thru my virtual stable and came across Ekebo's name. I'm glad I left it there. Because it was still bothering me, more than a year later. It reminded me of how things shouldn't happen. Ekebo was only 2 years old when he broke his cannon bone in the Eddie Logan, and when I started to look thru his record, it was rather horrifying. The horse was 2 years old and had run 8 races already, 5 of them stakes races. At 2. He ran from june til december. He only had a 2 maidens and 1 weight for age before running 5 straight stakes races. This shouldn't happen. A 2 year old is not ready to do all this on undeveloped musculoskeletal system.......and that is notwithstanding whatever Miller was shooting him up with. I was tempted to delete the horse from my stable because it makes me so sad, but I'll keep it as a reminder so I can tell people why U.S. racing is askew and needs to be fixed. This was a lovely animal who didn't deserve to be juiced like a lemon, last drop and then some. Get Her Number ran in the Texas Derby today, clipped heels and walked off but did not finish. His record for 2021 is 0 wins 0 places 0 shows. I hope he's okay.
