Ascot 8:30- 1m6f Handicap (Class 3) (4yo+) (0-93)
#3- Mancini (7-1) is a true stayer, although he doesn't handle 2 1/2 mi. + races. No worries here as he drops back to 14F and drops from class 2 into a much easier spot today. #10- Rajinsky (7-1) has progressed nicely through his ten race career, and has taken to these longer distances quite well despite his pedigree. Comebacker against Laafy, where he was third in a class 2, points him out. Big field, take a swing.
EX- 3,10/1,2,3,5,6,10 Result- 9,10,6 Rajinsky ran a strong race, but Calling the Wind, which had been a good AW horse with only one turf start before today, ran the race of his life to score at 45-1.
Ascot 10:15- 1m (Rnd) Summer Mile Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (4yo+)
Nice field of older stakes horses duke it out going a mile on the "round" course. #6- Marie's Diamond (6-1) has been in career form since last summer, culminating with a close-up third to Circus Maximus in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot. #7- Mohaather (5-2) was 1 3/4 lengths behind Marie's Diamond last time in his comeback race, should improve for that effort. #11- Zaaki (7-1) multiple GIII winner runs his race every time, never ducks a challenge. Ryan Moore is off today because he is riding at Newmarket. His replacement, Louis Steward, is not inspiring my confidence, but I'll rely on the trainer's judgement.
EX- 6,7,11/1,3,6,7,9,11 Result- 7,8,3 Mohaather moved forward from his last race and dusted them all. San Donato was very impressive for second having not raced since May of last year.
Ascot 10:50- 5f Heritage Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+)
Field of 19 speedballs going 5F. #3- Ornate (20-1) has some fine efforts on his resume, although he appeared to tail off in the second half of last season. He showed some spark in his latest on AW, so I'll take an optimistic view. #6- Stone of Destiny (10-1) fires an occasional big race, his close-up finish in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot should have him primed for this race. Turns back to 5F but should be running late.
EX- 3,6/1,2,3,4,6,8,12 Result- 13,7,14 Jawaal had smooth sailing along the rail in a race marred by the breakdown of National Anthem, who was near the front in the middle of the course when the incident occurred. Half the field was impacted in the resulting chain reaction. Hoping for the best for National Anthem.

Newmarket 8:50- 1m (July) Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-100)
#3- Finest Sound (3-1) crushed a field of maidens on his reappearance, then ran a fine second behind Khaloosy in the Britannia S. at Royal Ascot. Thinking he's going to turn out to be a fine Group-company miler. #7- Eastern World (4-1) broke his maiden last time over C&D, looks to be a progressive Godolphin runner for Appleby/Buick.
EX- 3,7/1,2,3,4,7,10 Result- 10,7,3 Establish ($18.80) continues his rise from the lower ranks, running a strong race to surprise the two favorites.
Newmarket 9:25- 7f (July) EBF Fillies' Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-100)
Kind of a head scratcher, with no standouts evident. #4- Alabama Whitman (15-1) ran creditably against some good ones last term. Comebacker was just ok at Royal Ascot, but she gets some class relief today. #6- Nasaiym (12-1) ran well in four starts as a 2yo, and took some shots at stakes company without being disgraced. #10- Odyssey Girl (7-1) is a consistent sort which ran mid-pack with Alabama Whitman in the Sandringham S. in seasonal bow, then grabbed third in an AW last week. Box them up.
EXBOX- 4,6,10 Result- 11,10,8 In the end the top three in the wagering ran 1-2-3.
Newmarket 10:00- 7f (July) Superlative Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2yo)
#8- Seventh Kingdom (3-1) was impressive on debut, winning by four after a slow start. #10- Ventura Tormenta (15-1) boldly tried the GII Norfolk on his initial try and wasn't embarrassed behind The Lir jet and Golden Pal. Broke maiden last week going 6F, stretches out another furlong today and should offer good value.
EX- 8,10/2,3,5,8,10 Result- 5,2,8 Godolphin would appear to have another good one in Master of the Seas ($8.80). Son of Dubawi dominated the field.

Newmarket 10:35- 6f (July) Darley July Cup Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+)
#3- Hello Youmzain (5-1) and #7- Sceptical (4-1) look the best of the older horse contingent, landing first and third in a scintillating finish at Royal Ascot in the GI Diamond Jubilee. Golden Horde (9-5) and Threat (8-1) get the vote for the 3yo runners. Longshots in with a chance are #1- Brando (20-1) who has been eased back into his 8yo season with this as his early season goal; he was fifth in this last year. #4- Khaddem (6-1) tailed off at the end of his 3yo campaign but was fourth on debut in the Diamond Jubilee; should be better for that race and can be right there on the line. #9- Sir Dancelot (12-1) will be running on late in case everything melts down.
EX- 1,3/1,3,4,7,9 WP- 1,9 Result- 6,7,10 Oxted ($25.00) surprises them all with a well earned victory from a stalking position. Sceptical once again proved his mettle as a turf runner, Frankie just couldn't quite get him home. Golden Horde ran well to be third and has a bright future.

Redboard exacta in the finale at Newmarket: 17 horse field, too many horses to do a write-up (aren't you glad?!). Liked #4- Motakhayyel (9-2) and #6- Sir Busker (8-1) on top, with three others underneath, but it came out 4,6,14 Exacta $58.20 so I didn't need the others. A welcome win after two days of getting beat up at the windows.
Number of Bets 11
Win Percentage 9.1%
Wagered $95.00
Payoff $58.20
Profit/Loss <-$36.80>

Thanks spider, I got caught up handicapping Saratoga for Thursday and missed the race. That was a strong race. I think he just has distance limitations, and 7F may be his sweet spot. Still money to be made sprinting, and they can try him again at a mile in the fall.
