Epsom- Going: GOOD (GoingStick: 6.8) (Showers)
Epsom 9:25- 7f Surrey Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+)
Short field of six, and it's hard to go past #4- Safe Voyage (7-5). 7yo gelding did an impressive body of work last season, not winning at the top level but otherwise running hard every time out. #3- Oh This Is Us (5-1) loves the 7F races, is very consistent, fared well in a GII try last term. Turns back in distance along with #6- Vale of Kent (6-1) who probably prefers the mile, and may not fare so well if the ground gets softer. #2- Jack's Point (15-1) 4yo has really stepped up his game in three starts this season, two of them fine efforts at Royal Ascot. 6F was too sharp for him last time and is 6/1-3-0 at this longer trip.
Hard to make a big score here, but maybe can triple your wager with an even money on top.
EX- 4/2,3,6 Result- 4,6,5 Exacta $13.60 Safe Voyage ($3.40) had to work hard through the stretch but eventually got it done. Vale of Kent at least made the bet worthwhile.
Epsom 10:00- 1m2f Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+) 3,16 are non-runners.
The scratch of Desert Icon changes the complexion of this race somewhat. #4- Caradoc (5-1) should now assume favorite status. Very progressive last season with three wins from seven tries. Oisin Murphy takes back the mount. Looking for some value elsewhere, #9- You're Hired (10-1) was a bridesmaid for times in a row last term, but his comeback race at Newmarket was a revelation, winning by fourteen lengths over eight others. Debatable what he may have beaten but William Buick sees fit to ride him back.
EX- 4,9/1,4,7,9,13 Result- 5,12,2 Caradoc was always too far back and couldn't get there in time while Sky Defender ($48.40) looked like a stakes horse. His excellent AW form from the winter has clearly carried forward into his 4yo campaign.

Naas- Going: YIELDING TO SOFT (Showers)
Naas 10:35- 7f Handicap (3yo) (50-80)
#1- Darkest (5-2) totes co-highweight for Aidan O'Brien/Lordan. Good third in comebacker after facing some good ones (Ridenza, Love Locket) at the end of last term. #2- Kokura (10-1) has two AW wins and three poor turf outings. Johnny Murtagh's barn is very live right now and I'll leave it to him to sort this one out. Not a bad run at the Curragh against Sinawann which won a GIII on Wednesday.
EX- 1,2/1,2,3,6,9,12 Result- 12,9,4 Star of Cashel was days the best and will likely be seen in stakes company next time. Darkest did no running, finishing far behind them all. Kokura went to the front and tired to fourth.
Epsom 10:40- 1m4f Epsom Oaks (Group 1) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
#3- Frankly Darling (9-5) won the Royal Ascot prep for this over several of today's rivals. Daughter of Frankel is improving rapidly and the sky is the limit for Gosden/Dettori. #5- Love (Even) is the class of the field. Crushed 1000 Guineas foes by four lengths, now tries to stretch out to 12F for the biggest prize. A. O'Brien/Moore/Galileo in her corner. #2- Ennistymon (6-1) might be the overlooked O'Brien filly. She was held up and ran on late in the Ribblesdale (GII). Have to think this was always the ultimate goal for this daugther of Galileo. #1- Bharani Star (50-1) wasn't a bad fourth at Royal Ascot after a troubled start. Chapple-Hyam could easily have found a softer spot for her but didn't, Oisin Murphy climbs aboard. Stranger things have happened.
EX- 2,5/1,2,3,5,7 PL- 1 Result- 5,2,3 Exacta $18.40 Love just demolished the Oaks field with a devastating run through the stretch. The early pace was suicidal, stretching the field out and making stamina a premium virtue. Ennistymon held well for second over Frankly Darling who seemed a little short of seasoning, but not ability. Those two are future Group-winners if they remain healthy. Best race I've seen in UK this year, on a par with Ghaiyyath destroying the Coronation Cup (GI).

Epsom 11:15- 1m½f Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
Trying to find a price in here. #4- Onassis (12-1) daughter of Dubawi has progressed nicely with a fine victory in the Sandringham S. at Royal Ascot under Hayley Turner. Ryan Moore has been engaged to ride today so we'll see what Charlie Fellowes can produce for today's GIII test. #5- Rose of Kildare (8-1) has been very progressive including a close-up third in the German 1000 Guineas last out. Was far back in the 1000 Guineas against today's likely favorite Cloak of Spirits, but that was a tough spot for her first race since October. Price should be more than fair.
EX- 4,5/1,2,4,5 Result- 6,1,5 Summer Romance ($19.00) proved that Godolphin bought more than a sprinter with their $900K daughter of Kingman, reversing the 1000 Guineas form over Cloak of Spirits.
Epsom 11:55- 1m4f Epsom Derby (Group 1) (Class 1) (3yo)
The big one. #3- English King (2-1) has gotten rave reviews since his facile win in the Derby Trial at Lingfield in early June. Inside draw is a concern if Dettori doesn't place him forwardly early. #6- Kameko (7-2) won the 2000 Guineas by a head over Wichita, now tries for the double. Son of Kitten's Joy is questionable at this distance for me, I'll look elsewhere for other possible winners. #13- Russian Emperor (6-1) is Seamie Heffernan's mount once again after Ryan Moore rode him to victory in the GIII Hampton Court at Royal Ascot. Was a close second in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown on seasonal debut as well. Should sit back and make a late run from his mid-pack draw in post six.
EX- 3,13/3,5,6,8,10,12,13 Result- 14,7,1 The winner Serpentine was: a son of Galileo/trained by Aidan O'Brien/won his prep race by nine lengths. So of course he went off at 32-1. Wayne Lordan must be banging his head on the wall, having stayed in Ireland after riding this guy last time.
$2 Exacta (14-7) Paid $3,287.80 $2 Trifecta (14-7-1) Paid $59,765.80
Epsom 12:35- 7f Zebra Handicap (Class 3) (4yo+) (0-95) 5,8 are non-runners.
#2- Hateya (12-1) likes the course and distance. Close to Jack's Point on seasonal debut at Newmarket, then finished mid-field facing better at Newbury. Can get a piece of this. #6- Dirty Rascal (20-1) also likes 7F. consistent sort ran last on seasonal debut at Royal Ascot, but he's much better than that effort. Gets blinkers today, and regular rider Marquand returns in the irons. #12- Muntadab (6-1) has a stellar record (15/6-2-1) at 7F. Two seconds this season in two starts including a nose loss on Wednesday at Musselburgh. Should give his best today. #14- Corazon Espinado (10-1) is a HFTC (7/3-2-1). Handles AW and turf with equal aplomb, and presence of Atzeni in the saddle says all systems go today.
EX- 2,6,12,14 Result- 12,11,4 Muntadab (3-1) returned on three days rest and bossed this group around. Count Otto got second with the jockey upgrade after a tough trip last time.
Naas 12:45- 6f Lacken Stakes (Group 3) (3yo)
3yo sprinters going 6F with a few dropping down in class, but I'm all in on #2- Art Power (9-5) among the colts. Appears to handle all ground and his forward placing on this mostly downhill course could make him tough to catch. The filly #4- Millisle (5-2) couldn't handle Love in the 1000 Guineas at a mile, then ran a good fifth to Golden Horde in GI Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. This is a much easier task and she should show her class today.
EX- 2,4/1,2,3,4,6 Result- 2,4,7 Exacta $6.20 Chalkiest possible outcome with Art Power easily overcoming Millisle entering the final furlong. He will continue to be a force in the sprint division.
