Julie Krone is back in the saddle on Monmouth Park opening day, July 3. Figuratively speaking. She's agent and mentor to apprentice Ferrin Peterson. They met at Del Mar last August when Julie was there to receive the Laffit Pincay Jr. Award and a book signing. Ferrin had no mounts that day but chased Julie down for an autograph and the rest is history. Julie went home that day, watched all of Ferrin's races and decided she was something special. She convinced her to put her apprenticeship on hold, eventually move to the east coast and groomed her for the Monmouth meet. In addition to being a 28 year-old seven-pound bug with 15 wins Ferrin is also a veterinarian and equine acupuncturist. look.thoroughbreddailynews.com/will-krone-and-peterson-be-an-unbeatable-team/Attachments:

Thank you, Mr. Wright... always admired this champion jockey. Julie is a wonderful ambassador for the sport!

Nice write-up. I always liked Julie. Best of luck to both of them.
Peterson didn’t get the mount on McBurney’s longshot in the MSW, a spot where the 7lb allowance might have helped. But Krone did get her the mount on the 3-1 favorite in the sixth race, so she must be showing people something, and the mount on a Pat Farro horse in the second.
I’ll be at Monmouth for opening day and will make it a point to keep my eyes on her.

Ferrin Peterson gave good rides (2 seconds) on both of her mounts today.
