Don’t know how far she can go, but damn, I know how fast she can go.
What ever became of the alleged “positives” involving two Baffert horses at Oaklawn?
I hate to be a noodge but there is a pattern with many of these horses. Is he squeezing too hard on the lemon, too soon?

The two positives were mentioned only very briefly by Randy Moss on the NBC broadcast, and with zero response or discussion.

It's the whistle blower effect. We're not allowed to know.
"Baffert provided a statement to the Courier-Journal.
"The rules of the Arkansas Racing Commission mandate confidentiality concerning any investigation into an alleged rule violation until there is a written decision of the Stewards,” the statement reads. “I am extremely disappointed that, in this instance, the Commission has not followed its own rules on confidentiality.
"I am hoping for an expedited investigation and look forward to being able to speak soon about any written decision of the Stewards, if and when it becomes necessary and I’m allowed to under the Commission’s confidentiality rules.”
No one was suppose to know it happened? He's "extremely disappointed" we were told? I like Bob Baffert. I've cashed a lot of tickets (years ago) on his horses but every form of "cheating" in every sport should be exposed when it's uncovered.

I'm thinking that she is just a freak running machine. Who would spend $1.8M for an Into Mischief filly out a mare with three previous non-descript foals? (although Stonestreet bought the first foal by Scat Daddy.) Here's her breeze for the sale (10.0):
Hip # 360 (click on video)
Very efficient stride. Big motor behind. Freak. Hope she stays sound.

i know she was expensive and things were expected from her. I am just stating the obvious. Baffert is not the only trainer that gets expensive horses. He is however about the only trainer that constantly has horses run these mind blowing races. In my personal opinion Baffert is a cheat. He is no different than servis, navaho. For whatever reason the guy seems to get a pass.

For whatever reason the guy seems to get a pass. Didn’t want to say it but I was thinking this, at least: if he’s cheating, it’s certainly more than lidocaine. Not only is there a history of other-worldly performances from his horses, but they so often occur at NYRA tracks and several have come on Belmont Stakes Day (Mor Spirit, anyone). I’m looking forward to TG posting their figs as they usually do. Another 5-6 point top and quite likely the fastest race ever run by a 3yo filly at that point of the year. Of course, she only had two races, so improvement isn’t unexpected, but still...

The guy gets the most expensive horses out there so is it any surprise that they produce outstanding performances. Not everyone is a home run for sure but when he gets them from the 2 y o sales they are already running their eyes out. He knows that everybody in the business is watching his every move so I can’t imagine that he’s willing to risk everything by cheating now. I hear lots of complaints from bettors about Baffert cheating but none from those inside racing itself which is noteworthy in that many (not all unfortunately)racing people were vocal about their disapproval of Servis and Navarro.

The point is well taken with Gamine as she was lightly raced and certainly showed a lot of potential, but there’s been some that are really hard to explain.

Amazing effort though little behind her. Wasn’t she rumored to have tested positive at oak lawn? Have the 2nd round of tests returned?
Justify all over again?
Reminds me of pletcher at Saratoga and his “bad patch of grass” a decade or so ago...
Claiming trainers are sacrificed to protect the big players?
I assume that most bend the rules, that way I might only be wrong about a few...Baffert simply has top level animals to juice for Top level races

Baffert works his horses faster and longer than anyone I know. Great trainer or something else?
Horses have been feeling their feet rattle all meet at Belmont and all the times have been very fast because of it. I wouldn't get too excited about Gamine's time.

8 point top on Thoro-Graph. Uh oh. Not a huge surprise. Wonder if I was right about it being the fastest ever for a 3yo filly to this point.

Two Grade 1s now, but a rather curious way to get this horse to the Oaks. She did get a two-turn victory at Oaklawn, but stretching out to 9 Fs off the Test.... We'll see.

interesting habub on twitter after the race....
Apparently the owner/trainer instructions to Rosario on Venetian Harbor were to send hard and take the lead by any means necessary.
Rosario obviously did not do that....
Rosario and Velazquez on Gamine both share the same jockey agent (Ron Anderson) and both ride a fair amount for Baffert and probably would like to continue to do so.
Owners twitter comment seemed to imply that Rosario was indeed following his instructions, just the not ones he received from the owner of the horse he was riding.
It's a pretty obvious conflict of interest for Rosario, and a bit of sour grapes to complain about it after. I'm sure we'll see a rider change next time out for Venetian Harbor.

It would have been a more interesting race had Wicked Whisper not scratched. She had some serious speed from the gate. With that said, I'm not convinced yet that Gamine can't rate or can't learn to rate.

Why can't they just let the horses run ? As if drugging horses isn't bad enough... Fixing races takes away from the sport..... just like boxing...football...basketball...baseball...etcetera....if you have to cheat to win then you are a loser... ... wonder why people shy away after a while......

From the chart.
GAMINE broke in line with VENETIAN HARBOR, was out in the middle of the strip on the backstretch edging away from that snugly-held opponent
VENETIAN HARBOR placed to a very firm hold after springing from the starting gate, prompted the winner from the outside, pilot utilizing the previously-mentioned grip for much of the opening half
