I'll try vino rosso. Not worried about distance or liking the surface. Sometimes the good horses run closer to the pace as they get older, and that would play well in a four horse field with no cheap speed.

I wonder how many of Johnny V’s record graded stakes wins have come by way of DQ. If he’d been riding Vino Rosso then I’m betting the stewards would have left him up !
ps Last year Vino Rosso should probably have been DQ’d from Wood Memorial but wasn’t ... his jockey ..Johnny V.

And Mr Farish was in attendance. Hooper
From Belmont website.

Race 10 - Jockey’s Objection and Stewards’ Inquiry into the stretch run. The rider of #2 Code of Honor (John Velazquez) claimed foul against the rider of #3 Vino Rosso (Irad Ortiz, Jr.) for interference in the stretch. The # 3 Vino Rosso drifts out several times under a left handed crop making contact and pushing him out. The number 2 Code of Honor comes back to lose by a nose. After reviewing the video and speaking to the riders involved, the #3 Vino Rosso is disqualified from first and placed second behind the #2 Code of Honor. The new order of finish is 2-3-1-4.
With regard to interference, New York is a “Category 2” state, meaning that Commission rules provide that if the interferer is guilty of causing interference and such interference in the judgment of the Stewards has altered the finish of the race, then the interferer is placed behind the offended horse.
The Stewards consider whether the riders of the horse or horses that are offended continue to give effort to the finish of the race.
The Stewards also consider whether the offending jockey acted in a willful or careless manner while interfering with another horse or jockey, for which the interferer may be disqualified, i.e., placed last or unplaced in the order of finish. For example, if an offending jockey acts in a dangerous manner, exhibits extremely improper riding or impedes several horses, the Stewards may disqualify the offending horse without regard to the specific effect of the foul on the order of finish.

Another race decided by a DQ?
And, only five horses in the race.
Really?
What a joke!

Is it just my impression or have the number and % of DQs gone up since the Maximum Security incident in May?

watched that race and the sprint. both exciting though without any surprises other than the dq I turned it off after the wire not expecting any controversy Tapiture is not as good as thought Code of Honor may be the best of a moderate crop of fragile, drugged over-hyped colts Vino is decent Pres was a nice story--hopefully I own the next version Today's riders are not very good for the most part tc--like football now, cameras and technicalities rule--not sure what to make of it--getting the proper result is probably best despite the irritation--officials are hesitant to make critical rulings with the camera as a crutch and final decider
pretty much mirrors the direction of today's society and world order--thank goodness everything that I have said and done in my life is not recorded and documented and used against me whenever convenient the wealthy, privileged, popular and favored are judged(actually untouchably not judged) differently the world is changing, but not as much or how that it probably should
after 40+ years, I honestly don't care much about horse racing--so I ask myself why am I here typing this? introspection

Spider,as we age the things that make us happy change and evolve. The excitement I used to get from being onsite on major race days has been replaced by just a couple of hours in the clockers stand at Fair Hill or the Whitney Tower at Oklahoma a few times a year. Hooper

Just watched the replays. I'm sure I could go through the last few weeks of NYRA and find contact worse than that which didn't even lead to an inquiry. Not sure what the stewards gripe is with Pletcher, Repole or Irad Ortiz, Jr, but there has to be something more than just those bumps on the track.

a couple of thoughts, Did John V burn a bridge with Pletcher? I know he's been riding less for him, but still. And .......Does this mean that John V makes the move to Cal to start riding for Baffert?
