York 8:55- 1m4f Sky Bet Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+)
#16- Persian Moon (15-1) has faced classy fields all season, may find this one to be beatable. #14- Mandarin (8-1) is in career form, steps up in class today but should make a good accounting of himself. #2- Epaulement (12-1) is a very consistent sort, his race at Haydock Park last out could win this.

York 9:25- 2m Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes (Group 2) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+)
Field of 4 go to post, Magic Circle is out. #1- Stradivarius (2-5) is the dominant stayer in the UK, having won eight consecutive GI/GII Cup races. If Dettori wasn't already the pilot of Enable, this would be his favorite horse. Having said that, I'll (foolishly) try to beat him today in this short field with #2- Dee Ex Bee (7-2) who has been runner-up to him in the last two, gets three pounds in his favor today, may lead them on a merry chase.

York 10:00- 6f Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (2yo)
#14- Threat (2-1) won smartly on debut at Newmarket, then ran second in two GIIs behind Arizona and Golden Horde. Clearly the horse to beat. #4- Dubai Station (10-1) has hit the board in all four starts, was third in Group races at Royal Ascot and Deauville in the last two. #13- Summer Sands (12-1) has faced good ones in all three career races at 5F, steps up in class and distance today but should offer a good showing. #8- Misty Grey (20-1) has had an ambitious campaign so far, but not quite embarrassed in Group-company, was close to Pinatubo at Epsom, seems best of the rest.
EX- 14/4,8,13
York 10:35- 5f Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (2yo+)
#1- Battaash (2-1) has defeated all comers save for the now-retired Blue Point this year, beat him to win. #8- Ten Sovereigns (3-2) is a highly regarded 3yo A. O'Brien trainee, enters this fray off an open-lengths victory in the Darley July Cup (GI) at Newmarket, tries 5F for the first time. #10- Mabs Cross (9-2) 5yo mare is an old nemesis of Battaash, finished second in this race last season (beating Blue Point). Hard to see her turning the tables but must use underneath.

York 11:50- 1m Nationwide Accident Repair Services Handicap (Class 2) (3yo)
#2- Biometric (6-1) won the Brittania H. at Royal Ascot, then ran poorly against GIII types last time. Taken to rebound today. #7- Seductive Moment (8-1) has two smart wins at the distance this summer, moves up in class but could offer improvement. #12- Edaraat (7-1) is rounding into form for Roger Varian, won last at Redcar and faces stiffer foes this time, expect his best today.

Stradivarius, Threat and Battaash were all prompt winners of their races but I couldn't get the right horses with them, shut out today. Goodwood and York both have great cards for Saturday, so with Saratoga's Travers Day on tap it'll be a struggle to get to all of them. Something about idle hands though...
