The Apollo Curse rides with two k. d. entries ...Justify & Magnum Moon this year....lol...and some think Justify will be the favorite in the race this year.....lol...'i' do not think they will win or even be in the top three ....lol....and one think eighter one will win or be in te top three  ... |

Back in 1880 whatever, after crossing the finish line first, on an off track, having defeated the favorite who was making his first start of the year in a Derby contested at 1 and 1/2 miles, Apollo stomped his hoof on the CD downs dirt, as if to say, from now on, no horse not having raced at 2, shall ever win the Derby again. Or was it his trainer or owner, who applied the curse?
I am as superstitious as the next guy, but you can be wary of Magnum Moon because he veered out in the stretch after getting an easy pace in the Arkansas Derby, or you can be leery of Justify because he did not begin training until the fall and "lacks seasoning" and hasn't had to "deal with adversity or a large fields but a curse is not a factor. Big Brown was lightly raced and because he started once very late in the year at 2, that is a big difference? I think not. Still struggling as to what to do with Justify.
