What are TG #--I read about them on BH-Steve Haskin Where are the listed for each horse? What are good numbers and what are bad numbers. I guess I just a dumb horse players. Thanks for ur help.

Richard, they are proprietary speed figures where the lower the figure the better. Unlike Beyer and Bris, they take into account ground traveled so all things been equal you can earn a better figure going wide. Many horseplayers swear by them- they are fairly pricy to buy compared to the alternatives. Others can give you a better, more complete description.
They also have handicapping theories which addresses things like "pairing up figures," and attempt to project the likelihood of a step back or forward.

00KyDbyTG.xls (27 KB) Excel sheet with the winner's Thorograph numbers for the last 3 races before the Derby and their Derby number from 1987 to 2017 and for the top 3 finishers from 1997 to 2017. The figure scale changed about 2001 so horses since then appear much faster.
