Welcome!
Quite a few of us follow Royal Ascot, The Arc day, Dubai World Cup and some of the other international events, but I am always excited to see more discussion.
I agree that Wesley Ward has done well in the UK.

Thanks for the welcome Shoes.
Many years ago while on holiday I did go racing at Hollywood Park.
If anyone wants to know how certain horses are doing in the UK on the flat or over jumps just let me know.
John Gosdens Too Darn Hot is now showing his true form.
His best trip is a mile but after watching him win at Deauville on Sunday I think he has the speed to win of 6 furlongs.
Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up going to the Breeders Cup Meeting.

To day in the uk we have our 3 day july festival from Newmarket.
Highlight being Saturday being the the july cup group 1 over 6 furlongs worth half a million quid
can any one answer me Wesley Ward sends his runners over to Royal Ascot and France
But why the other top trainers don't ?
My opionion is just dirt runners wouldn't live with our horses on grass every track is in America is boring left handed
I hope ive opened a can of worms

horse-
Others (hooper and hotspot, to name two), are more qualified to answer than I, but I suspect it is a matter of expenses and how it fits within mapped out schedules here in the US. Trainers will often have a target, e.g. the Breeders cup and then work back from that to see which events make sense. I would also think that the owners in some cases may have more input in the decision than the trainer. As you point out also top dirt horses are not likely to try turf for the first time overseas.
As to "boring" left-handed, I personally never been bored, but I do like the variety as well.

Hey horse— glad to have you around! We like U.K. racing on the big days, though we get screwed on payoffs here from separate pools.
Please keep us aware on the major French doings—not much info here. What about Newmarket thiS week? [br
Keep your eye on former jumps( we call them fallers lol) trainer Jessica Harrington. She is very qualified, and is taking on a few higher profile owners.
]As for here, Saratoga is all that should interest you currently, even though the track is a boring left-turning oval.

Thanks Guys Last years English Derby winner Masar has just run in a 6 runner group 2 at Newmarket Finished last was very disappointing Will he be retired now ? I was very surprised to see that, but it appears that a lot of the other horses that were expected to win didn't......7 favorites didn't win and there were longshots galore winning. I love euro racing and hope you stick around, and would love to pick your brain on a few occassions when I need to. I am probably one of those unusual bettors who think people make way too much about surface....I remember the guy who taught me a little about racing when I first started he was always clear that the athlete was preeminent, i.e. would say "hand an apple to Sandy Koufax and he will still strike you out." I saw Lava Man, Einstein, Awesome Gem, Colonel John, Fanny Freud, Brass Hat, Mushka, Panty Raid, Court Vision, Delightful Kiss, Sidney's Candy, Twirling Candy, Animal Kingdom, Evening Jewel, Student Council, Forever Together, Cocoa Beach..... and probably 40 other horses win on 2 or even 3 different surfaces!! If anything, I think it is actually good conditioning, like a human runner running on sand, then uphill, then on cedar chips, etc. changing up their action makes an athlete better, challenges different muscle groups, etc. I also like horses who can run clockwise and counterclockwise, and learn to change leads in both directions. I think we are making horses very pidgeonholed nowadays and they are not incapable of many of the things ..... but perhaps it is the need to always win that keeps great champions from being *developed* because that takes YEARS. Racing is more international now than ever, I hope to see more horses moving around from here to there and from there to here in the upcoming decades. I will also say I really like this forum here, people do play other racing jurisdictions and have an interest and are always willing to learn more about it. During Royal Ascot week I was on anotherh forum where like *2* people even bothered to mention it was even happening. I don't want to turn into that kind of horseplayer, I think it would be very boring. I LOVE when horses come over for our TC races and breeders cup, I love seeing how the training methods differ, etc. (and who could resist Lani's "pink boots" ?) LOL

Trainer Charlie Appleby hasn't give up on Masar just yet.
When interviewed on tv he stated he may drop him back to a mile and a quarter.

We get live racing from Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, in the morning.
Then our live afternoon and evening meetings start from here Ireland and France.
And we get 2 or 3 live American meetings last night we had Gulfstream Laurel Park and Saratoga.

In Canada we have access to a ADW called HPI which is operated by Woodbine Entertainment Group. Here is the schedule this week. Basically you can start the day in South Africa and finish up in Seoul 18 hours later.

we can usually watch most Euro racing from TVG or online wagering sites.
I didn't think much about the Newmarket card today either--El Paso for me

Godolphin horse Al Suhail ran really well in the 2 year old maiden to finish second was ran out of it close home.
This looked a strong maiden the eye catcher was John Gosden Tsar left at start after a slow break and made eye catching progress to finish 4th under a tender ride.
Think a few winners will come out of this race.

Agree Cherokeescot
Crystal Ocean and Enable have to give weight to Anthony Van Dyke
Defoe has improved this year and the French runner Waldgeist cant be ruled out
would I take 8/13 Enable no
Better each way values
Watching race
