I think Bev's got the following 3 HIPs in the auction:
58 282 893
Any idea what they may go for?

TC,I believe his only one is hip #462. 10.0 breeze should garner some inspections before the sale. Hooper

okay thanks, hoop.
I just assumed that 58, 282, and 893 were Bev's as they have the consignor listed as Hendry Training Stables LLC.
Maybe that is somebody else?

I don’t believe there is a connection other than name. I’m sure Bev will check in when his Philly 76ers fever breaks. Hooper

Bev's not much of a basketball fan, but he is, sadly, bogged down with meetings...
We have two entered. Hip 462, that we bought as a pinhook, went in 10 flat, clean vet. She sells on Wednesday. Then we have 1095. We bred this filly and I've owned 4 generations of her family. She works tomorrow morning. I think she's a better filly than 462, but she's a bit tough and I'm hoping she doesn't blow it. If she does, we won't be crying over keeping her. She might be the real deal. She's Forres Lily's sister with the same gutsy attitude and all of the natural ability that Lily doesn't have (being a Drosselmeyer...)
No connection to the Hendry's that are consigning the other three hips.

10.1 this morning, happy with her performance? Looked like she could have gone a quarter. Any news on Riflescope? Staying in UAE? Hooper

Riflescope will stay in Dubai with Satish Seemar. We have a FL bred Big Drama colt that looks like he might fit well over there, so if he thrives in the Ocala heat over the summer, then we might ship him to Satish, who is a very very nice man. He went out of his way to be accommodating and entertaining us. We love Dubai and I highly recommend a trip there and a visit to Zabeel, which is on the palace grounds. Happy enough with the 10.1, looks like she zigzagged slightly after breaking off, but her gallop out was 10.4, 23.5, so that is very solid. You are right about the 1/4, but that's always such a big risk, and her gallop out surprised us. I don't think she's as fast on this surface as the other filly, but when they work in company on the dirt, I think this filly dominates. Photo is Cherokee and I with Riflescope. Burj al Khalifa is the tall pointed building in the background. Horse usually has his ears up, but he was squinting from the glare off Cherokee's shoes. SalesTopper Attachments:

Thanks for the update and photo. Appears Bev left all of his Converse sneakers at home or maybe they were seized by customs. Hooper

ps: the horses bought by the stables / owners who end up in winning the most money each year, after year ( which has normally been the same 10 out of fifteen of the a fore mentioned ) will be the horses nominated to the big races as two year olds or sooner and they are the horses to watch as soon as possible, on ones watch lists...then list a few others who run well against them, as these will have the money to train them off track, while other are raced into shape ....lol...etc..just a thought...

Wondering if Cherokee or Salestopper would explain to us how sellers set a reserve at a 2yo sale. I’ve sold many a yearling with and without a reserve but never a 2yo in training. Has to be more complicated. Thanks, Hooper

Will let Salestopper weigh in on this one but we spent many hours debating this before finally agreeing on a figure that we were comfortable with !

Sorry for the late response, Hooper. Have been busy with yearling sales inspections. Reserves are set much the same way as the yearlings and it depends on the sellers attitudes and whether they race. We bought the Uncaptured with the intent to sell, so we set her reserve at expenses, but knew going in that several people I knew were on her and how much they had to spend. Her reserve was 65 but we knew she'd break 100 by who was vetting. The Tale of the Cat filly, I really did not want to sell, but lost that argument to Bev with a compromise of a higher reserve. I really think if she is handled correctly, she might be another LOMBO that we let slip through our fingers (I didn't want to sell him either!). I might be a little biased on this one, since I foaled her myself and there were tears and hugs when they took her from the barn, but I suppose we can't keep them all.

Thanks for the reply Salestopper. I still remember how hard it was to sell my first winner at a breeding stock sale. I’ve tried to take a more business approach recently which is much easier when all the horses are in Australia and South Africa. No physical attachment but still not without emotion. In the process of fielding offers on our SAF broodmares and runners. Hooper
