This seems out of line. Has the jock not suffered enough? Loss of earnings, prestige etc in being taken down in the Kentucky Derby. Also, who is ruling on the officials' performance? Don't forget there was no inquiry posted UNTIL AFTER there was a jockey objection...so, if the incident was serious enough to warrant a 15 day suspension then did the officials not blow the call by not posting an inquiry as soon as the race was over? And, if they did blow it should they not also be suspended? Maybe they will be but it all seems a bit much.

Obviously this is the way our world works now nothing is ever final
After watching it all approx. 1000 times, I'm just happy that WoW didn't go down to start the REAL damage. Jock rode his heart out, WoW was making a serious move when he was unfortunately mugged, the track was soaked after the late deluge, and now we have a Derby winner who can't finish 1st at this level. StewarD(!)s made a gutty call that would be outrageous to a large group either way. It was a very difficult situation with the Derby "whomever finishes first" mentality. If no dq(and suspension), it legitimizes the rough riding and sets the stage for worse from here on out. The suspension strengthens the decision and further proceedings imo.
Not the first time a dq and suspension has followed up without a post-race inquiry. Also suspensions do not occur immediately following a race or disqualification. I believe that I have seen suspensions without an inquiry or objection.
Would people feel differently if WoW, LRT and others had gone down to start a REAL situation? Just be happy that they didn't, and this is the only result.

Here you go phlier.
230.240 Additional employees for regulation of race meetings -- Administrative regulations as to duties, qualifications, and training -- Compensation. (1) In addition to the employees referred to in KRS 230.230, the executive director of the racing commission may employ, dismiss, or take other personnel action and determine the reasonable compensation of stewards, supervisors of mutuels, veterinarians, inspectors, accountants, security officers, and other employees deemed by the executive director to be essential at or in connection with any horse race meeting and in the best interest of racing. Three (3) Thoroughbred stewards shall be employed at each Thoroughbred race meeting.

Any news on whether there is a similar or worse suspension for Javier Castellano for his DQ on Jaywalk in the Oaks which actually did result in a horse and jockey going down ?

" did the officials not blow the call by not posting an inquiry as soon as the race was over"
I don't think stewards have to light up the inquiry board after an objection was claimed. I suspect different tracks have different rules on that matter. If the objection board wasn't lit up then someone needs to ask the "Why not?" question. At this point I don't really care now, I just hope it's all over now. I'm sure the folks at CD will be prepared for anything next year.

You would think that the Castellano ruling would have come before the Saez decision unless of course those bloody Stewarts have decided to take no action on the jockey infringement that brought down Positive Spirit and cost Steve a small fortune

After all of the video evidence that has come out. I believe that no matter what side of the DQ you are on. The very least everyone has to say that Tyler on WOW had some blame in what happen. Saez getting 15 days and Tyler not getting anything is just not right. It is kicking a dog when he is down. Personally I do not believe that Tyler or Saez did anything on purpose, they were just simply trying to Win the Kentucky Derby.
