Heard this morning that West says MS won't go in the Preakness. Why? Seems he would be favored and I am not feeling like he is a 12F horse, although the horse certainly could prove me wrong. Don't understand passing an opportunity to win a TC race.

he has already won a triple crown race! plus, he's probably heard that Bev is planning on running Bourbon so really no reason to run Max.

If it is as you say, he is likely sulking and making a statement to the folks who control and operate the triple crown races...lol..many wealthy insiders do this type of thing in other sports and life's realities...( like what China is doing when a billionaires daughter was arrested in Canada and sent to the u s of a...lol...they try to harm the industries of others or run interference etc ...lol..a real shame...but it is so...real life...)

It’s a good thing if he doesn’t run in the Preakness! Imagine if he went on to win the Preakness and the Belmont!!

Agreed...if he came out of the race better and healthy he should be entered...but it is a pouting owner playing games ...no more no less....lol...and besides the other owners relish the idea of not having to run against him again in the triple as he might just be as good as his race sure stated...a horse with heart who likes running naturally ...training etc just enhances his abilities...so let's see what he does next...lol...

Jason Servis rarely runs his horses back in two weeks (insert your own theory here) and with no Triple Crown on the line they will be setting their sights on targets like the Haskell

Why don't they just retire him and send him to the breeding shed? A florida derby winner and a kentucky derby winner has to be worth a few pennies as a stallion, no?
Would winning the haskell really add any further value as a breeding prospect?

I guess we have discussed moving the Preakness and Belmont back on the calendar to increase the chances of more repeat participants which I think would be better for the more casual fans. I thing the PGA moving the PGA to May is going to greatly increase it's visibility, maybe horse racing should consider a calendar change as well. I know there would be probably be a lot of complicating factors.
