My last rant! How the hell was Country House 65-1!!!!! Second longest shot on the board. I did use him, but only in the 3rd slot. I was on this guy the whole time earlier in the year and let him slip away. There were at least 10 horses that should have been longer than him. Even my original tri key with Tacitus would have been put up, so I’m feeling a little bummed. I have always posted that Mott and Shug are my two favorite trainers and a Mott-Shug- Mott tri pays $5,000 for 50 cents and I don’t have it!! Steve

I dunno, 65-1 sounded about right to me. I agree that many of the 20-1 horses were ambitiously bet, if that's your point, but it's a very unusual betting pool and next year we'll start another cycle where no one goes off above 50-1.
CH was slow (still is slow...99 beyer?) and had finished behind many of these without really threatening, and needed to alter his prep schedule just to get in the race. I liked him a lot to finish 3rd or 4th and narrowed him down to one of only 6 I bet to finish 3rd: seemed like a big strapping horse who wouldn't mind the distance and surface. Post points system, the winner usually is something special, and the other times the winner will be so impossible that I won't lose sleep trying to explain it in hindsight.
