Wassup, Handicappers... With 5 major preps down and the Arkansas Derby to come, I think we're looking at a pretty wide open Run For The Roses. Justify is currently the talk of the town off of his SA Derby tour d' force, BUT, loose on the lead types in moderate fractions aren't my cup of tea heading into the mile and a quarter without any water event. He's a talented horse for sure and probably can rate, but I'm thinking he could be like Dortmund from 2015 and his price probably won't be very attractive for me in the once-a-year horse racing lottery. Additionally, there's 2 hard hitting front end types in Noble Indy and Flameaway that tend to hurt horses like Justify around the far turn when buttons are getting pushed. Good Magic might be cycling towards a peak performance. His Bluegrass win was solid. Nothing brilliant, but steady with more to offer. Audible is the key horse for me with 4 weeks to go. Going a route looks like his thing and his 5 weeks before the Big One seems ideal. Pletcher horses are prepped for the Derby. The Preakness means little to Todd and his horses tend to need 30 days between races to maintain their top form. Vino Rosso and Enticed will be an interesting pair to watch after their bump fest in the Aqueduct stretch. The winner looks like his lightbulb may have turned on after the contact. My price play as we post. Which brings me to Bolt D' Oro. I predict he'll be the wise guy horse for the Big One. He'll get a better set up that the SA Derby for sure. Might be overbet as well. Will watch the Arkie Derby and hope to find a true price horse. That's it for now. make a lotta money in between, y'all. Peace, CB, El Desperado de Santa Cruz.
