Should be an amazing Saturday with the split race and full fields in both. If Baffert's two are as good as they are supposed to be, it's kind of a shame, since others who had been pointing here all along could get squeezed out of the Derby on points. Then again, neither has run this year, so who knows? Not that I ever have a clue, but I have even less of a clue about this year's Deby crop than usual. It seems to me that out of all the top rated horses, only War of Will seems to be getting everything out of his campaign that he should. We'll see. It would be nice to see someone other than the favorite take down the roses. It's been a while.

Looking at both races Game Winner looks to have the easier go. I can't bet against him in this one.
In The Rebel-A there will be 3 dragsters in the gate - Classy John, Galilean & Improbable, filling the last three gates. I think you can count on Classy John to have pedal-to-the-metal out of the gate but the other 2 - Prat & Van Dyke - have options. None of the others appear to have the class to run the top ones down even if they do go too fast too early. Both Classy John and Improbable's sires were successful sprinters so breeding might be an issue in this race. Best guess is Van Dyke will stay close to Classy with Prat not too far behind those two. If Long Range Toddy can pick up a few more steps he might be up there too and has a good shot at betting a piece if the tri. I have to stay with Improbable even though if this race is run like I think it will, Galilean should have an excellent shot at the win.

Just had a look at the pp's ....baffort's at the Cindy Pierson site and see we have the above, ....this is a preview of what I think of both races ...a lot of fill in's to make it possible for two divisions...lol...( also , baffort also has horses running in the fourth & sixth races ...which will likely be the ones with the best chance of a top three finish...likely to win them....lol..)... ....race eight....the race should be between the 9-Improbable , 8-Galilean ( who might just win as improbable has been off ninety eight days , since the breeders cup,) & 4-Easy Shot being an Calumet farms entry...the one -Extra Hope lost to Improbable and will likely try to stay closer and may end up third...but the race should be between the nine & eight....if there are no sch's... ....race ten....the race amounts to trying to beat 5-Game Winner....he has been off for one hundred and thirty four days....lol..but has very good work outs...the 6-Omaha has proven he can run very well on the dirt and is also a future turf star...and will be the one who might upset here...the 8-Gunmetal Grey has lost to our champ twice over the same distance but had trouble in a race and was only out by about four lengths...so he will try to stay near our champion (5) and catch him napping...lol...the ten, Capt. Von trap appears to have a possible closing finish and appears the best of the asmussen entries...lol... .......so, thus far the evaluations stand with news of what is going on with the entries till race day and then may change.....but not likely...the best bet for a horse to beat Game Winner is 6-Omaha....or so I think...lol....good luck folks...

I think I'm only going to play my longshots w/p/s. Too many shippers, permutations and combinations to play my usual exotics. Longshot Race 8: Ninth Street Longshot Race 10: Market King Good luck to everyone. I always promise myself I won't go to the track on busy crazy days, but I guess i'll have to drive over there for this one. I can always take a break and walk down the street to Rockys for some pizza.

I have bet both and like them but they really need to show they belong in the grade one and two stakes races yet...but will give a good account of themselves so that trainers / owners can assess what the horses may do best at in the future to earn thier keep etc...( in the owners "" keep "" that is, lol... or to the claiming / sales options they go , lol...)...

Big stakes races at OP usually yield "the usual suspects". Its not a true distance race, so there would be very few horses in here who can't get that kind of shorter route, and speed will usually hold up well at OP. I was just looking at them as longshots if speed or something fails. They aren't my picks, they are my longshots. I always play a longshot on a separate ticket in many races. I did well on Super Steed in the Southwest. Even if playing w/p/s, if one comes in, it often helps restore some of my bankroll on more logical wagers I made in previous races that didn't hit. Oaklawn is not an easy track to play by any means, on a day to day basis, despite carefully following the trainer / jockey combos and horses who run multiple times during the meet, and then you add in all the shippers. I give my picks daily on one board, I'll have days when I'm first of 20 people, then 2 days later I'll be at the bottom of the pack. Its just a hard track to play IMHO but the values are very good. The big stakes races are usually somewhat more predictable. I noticed when you changed software many members appear to be missing, or is that my imagination?

Classy John looks like a Place wager to me in Race 8. Most will have Galilean here.

You are correct... there are a good many folks who for one reason or another chose not move to our new platform. Dunno why, but I miss 'em. New members, such as yourself, are truly appreciated! Some folks may return as we get closer to the Kentucky Derby. ...at least, that is my hope. It's the people who make the place!

Soccer tourney tomorrow in between findi gntime to watch my Cats from afar instead of in Nashville so will tread lightly as not enamoured with anything. I think aimprobable wins the first leg but Galilean makes him earn it.
In the second leg, I do t think we will see the best of Game Winner and would not be shocked to see him handily defeated honestly. I just do t see too much to challenge but would look closely at Jersey Agenda who had trouble last out and will be over looked. Unsure what to make of Our Braintrust as the Withers figure seems funky and didn’t hold up that well last weekend. Still have to find something with some value.

Played the Desormeaux bomb #4 Easy Shot to hit the board in the first leg. Hoping he runs to the improved last couple of works.
Needs pace coming from farther back.
Can't really find anything in the other leg.
