hoop- that is one gorgeous Impala.
My first car was a 1967 Impala Super Sport (327) which I paid $700 for in 1971. A bargain and a wonderful car!
eye-I remember those Bonneville's very well.

This was my 2nd car (1st was a 1931 Plymouth). This one was sitting in the back row of a Lincoln dealership and had just been traded in so it was an "as-is" purchase. I paid $475.00 It was a black convertible. The automatic top was not working and there was a small scrape on the back passenger fender. Having a car mean not having to dbg date with a friend.

For even older guys: This place is in Sylmar, in a sketchy area of that sketchy town. Amazing collection. Best thing I heard there: the cars all have current registration. The owner died a couple years ago, but until he did, he held a company picnic every year at Frazier Park--about 30 mi. north of the SFV. Each employee got to drive one of the cars to the picnic. Now that's cool: www.nethercuttcollection.org/

I don't know where Sylmar is but I certainly remember the filly Princess of Sylmar. And I would assume Frazier Park was either named for the car or the car was named by the park - Kaiser Frazer. More trivia - Aluminum magnet Henry J Kaiser also built the Henry J car and in 1951 Sears, under contract with Kaiser offered a Sears automobile called the Sears Allstate. It only lasted that one year. I have seen pictures of it but never seen one in person. It was just a Henry J with minor changes.

Sylmar is in the northern San Fernando Valley. Even when the SFV was a cush bedroom suburb of L.A., the towns of Sylmar, Pacoima, and San Fernando were tough. Not quite ghetto, but safety bars on windows, rundown homes and yards, etc. Nethercutt built his cosmetics factory there because land was cheap, and started collecting 30's cars in the 50's (I think). The museum grew from that. It's an amazing collection in any case, but to see it in that locale is eye popping.
