Overall it was a decent Breeders Cup. Pros Had 4 winners posted on top My best bet of the weekend won (Moira). Had fun!
Cons Still smarting over missing Soul of an Angel! I’ve been following Saffie for months and even was on this horse early but for some reason I went off of her. Ouch!! Had the turf pegged perfectly with the two Japanese horses but didn’t bet triples. Small win and place on Rousham Park got me a few bucks.
Overall my betting style needs to be adjusted. I’m a big pick 3 bettor and most of my bets are those and win and place. I need to concentrate more on vertical wagers instead of horizontal. Probably would have caught a few exactas or tris if I did.

This was a very good BC for me. I hit the 1st 4 races on Friday. Hit a draught beginning Saturday, lost 1st 5 races. Sadly after Race 7, Jayarabe had a 'Cardiac event' and passed away. R I P. Race 9 turned things around and I hit the last 4 races, including the last Race, winning $160. I normally bet more than I win in most years. It was nice withdrawing money from my account instead of adding to it. (I left a little to gamble with, 😉)

I have mixed feelings about the way some of the races turned out, but I did "just okay". I am still digesting and going over some of the results. I don't mind saying that out of all the Japanese horses entered, and there were a lot of them, that none won.....yet they manage to win all over the world. More on that later.
On Friday, other than some chalkier wins/exacta in R1,R2,R5....my best wagers on Friday were the win, place, and exacta on Chasing Liberty/Test Score in R4, and Magnum Force in R6.
On Saturday, I got the chalky trifecta on R6, Moira in R9, "stole" Soul of an Angel from a friend and did not have it posted. So the day started out just okay, but a rather large wager on Emily Upjohn, thinking Gosden didn't come over to sun bathe, pretty much consumed my getting ahead. That was the most disappointing race for me, not just because I spent on it, but because it was over as soon as the gate opened.
Hope everyone else did okay.

Friday was good for me, hitting the late Pick4 for ~$350. Should have had it twice if I had rated Henri Matisse as an 'A' or 'B' instead of 'C' but the wide post position put me off. I need to relax on making that a deal-breaker at times. Started off great on Saturday in the undercard stake (Goldikova) hitting for ~$120 to win on overlay Raqiya (5-1) from Owen Burrows/Shadwell/Frankie. Had I done a full spread of 'Bs' and 'Cs' underneath in my triple, would have caught it for another $370 as I used 30-1 longshot Uncorked, but only for third. Hopefully that was a lesson learned. Managed to go the rest of the day without a hit on any of my personal wagers . Did salvage the day with a group bet (MadameBlum) hitting the (Moira/Straight No Chaser/More Than Looks) Pick3 for $300. Small profit for the two days, lots of fun on Saturday hanging out with a Myracehorse couple that had an ownership-fraction of Straight No Chaser. Del Mar did just fine as a host track, although as a turf guy I'd prefer the races to be held on a course with more than a 3/16mi. stretch run. TW

I thoroughly enjoyed the two days of watching and wagering. Put a decent, for me, amount of money in play, to end up a grand total of $19 when it was over. That was made possible because of the last race cashing a $25 win bet. I would like to personally thank Twinspires for this as they increased their money back offer from their usual $10 to $25. I likely would have only bet $10 to win otherwise. Following along on the board here also increased the fun. Thanks to all who posted and played in the contests, and especially thanks again to Dell for hosting all of us.
