I skipped Pool 1 last year and it turned out okay. Derby winner Mystik Dan didn't show up until Pool 2 Was more fun and easier without the Baffert horses, but he's back in the game, so there is that to consider. Not in love with any of these Pool 1 prospects... a little interested in one of the Pletcher possibles. #32 SHOWCASE, in case odds hold @ 99+ to 1, and hunch bet #39 ALL FILLIES @ 99+ to 1 for fun. Wagers pending --- watching the odds. Good luck!

Mystik Dan had the kind of early campaign that I like, and McPeek had him ready to "peak" on Derby Day.
Unlike Citizen Bull in the other topic, Mystik Dan had 2 maidens and an allowance as a 2 year old, in late Fall (also something I like to see). Then as a 3 year old, a Listed Stakes, then a G3, then a prep race G1, before running in the G1 KY derby.
That just seems like a nice progression to me, I will be looking for that kind of horse for 2025.

The Graded Stakes Committee needs to do some tough work. There were over 400 graded stakes this year and I think we would have a better product at the 300 level due to the declining foal crops. G1's for 2yo's in Aug and Sep are ridiculous. Most 3yo TC prep races are also something to look at.
