I just heard that Amr Zedan paid $3.4 million for a Not This Time yearling colt who will be trained by Bob Baffert.
That's a little under $3 million more than the avg selling price of a yearling (check my math)
Almost obscene, (as my down-to-earth PCP used to say when I described certain multimillion $ offices of some dentists and other doctors to him, while his office had simple chairs and carpeting, he was a humble man who went to LSU and was hands down the best and most compassionate and capable doctor I ever had. )
Tell me again why there aren't more owners buying into the sport...

and its not even a very good bet
The most expensive Kentucky Derby winner to ever be sold at auction was Fusaichi Pegasus, a $4-million purchase who won the 2000 edition. In fact, only four Kentucky Derby winners have sold at auction for $500,000 or more: Fusaichi Pegasus ($4 million), Winning Colors ($575,000), Alysheba ($500,000), and Justify ($500,000).
I would rather 6 -10 shots at the Derby for 3.4 mil.

Zedan paid $4.0 and $3.2 million at the 2023 Saratoga sale for two colts, one out of Beholder. Have not heard much.
