10th Race Thursday... I liked Queens MG... should have posted my thoughts after the races started... won her first at 45-1, last out of the gate of 11, but leads at 1st call an angle that I love finding. Then went on to wire the 11 horse field, which I found amazing
her 2nd... Favorite, bumped start and early, moved up and faded @ SAR, the @ Sar is one thing that kept me from using here, thinking the track an issue for her. The other reason rather silly, but the MG in the name, my initials. I've never felt very lucky... have a coin flip hereditary issue so I flipped and tails, no go Queens. Last day of the contest, probably a had to use at that point
All she needed was a clean break $91.20, a profit for the whole contest on day one, one horse! I could scream
To anyone new to the game, bad starts, toss those races. If the horse breaks poorly but is 1st at the 1st call, good sign they're playable at a price in their next. I think one of my last posts here (sorry) was because you had to use the 1 horse in the 1st leg of a mandatory pick 6. Think around 7 starts. He had 3 clean from the 1, 4th in all those and not outrun, bumped in all but one of those others. One hole, chance of being bumped out of gate cut in half, and he seemed to like it there, had to use. On the down side the trainer was having a decent year but a horrid meet. My thinking was he's due! Went to lead (a member wrote "are they pulling this again") and won at 27-1. I made my first $100 win bet in years when his odds hit 80-1.
If you want to win this thing you need to find a Queens MG and damn I had it
