DON R1 (9:20am ET)- 1m (Str) Doncaster Mile Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (4yo+) Wanted to like favored #2- Charyn (8-5) from Roger Varian, faced nothing but Group-level opponents last year, but the fact remains he had zero wins. #5- Knight (7-2) finished just ahead of Charyn in roughly-run GII at Goodwood, but was also winless in five 3yo starts. I ended up on #1- Grey's Monument (7-1) from Ralph Beckett's yard, was a progressive 2yo but had a limited 3yo campaign. Ran a career best in December winning Listed race on AW, carries a 3lb penalty for that however. Handles deep going, could be forwardly placed by Hector Crouch in a tactical affair. Headscratcher to start the season, would rather take a better price with lots of uncertainty present. WIN- 1 Result: 2,7,1 Charyn ($5.00) made the others look ordinary, should have a fine 4yo season in the mile division.DON R2 (9:50am ET)- 5f (5f3y) Brocklesby Stakes (A Novice Stakes) (GBB Race) (IRE Incentive Race) (Class 2) (2yo) Fifteen 2yo FTS, no form to go by, will box three that come from trainers/owners that do well with this type. Thinking that #1- Atherstone Warrior (7-1) could be well prepared at first asking by Alice Haynes. EXBOX- 1,13,14 Result: 11,2,12 Zminiature ($41.40) was zee right one if you could come up with him. $1 exacta was $432.40, $1 triple was a cool $6171.40 .DON R3 (10:25am ET)- 1m (Str) Spring Mile Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+) #2- Look Back Smiling (10-1) won a 7F handicap over similar ground here when last seen. Consistent sort could surprise for Gemma Tutty. #7- Thunder Roar (7-1) ran very well last fall, including a win in the other division of the 7F handicap won by Look Back Smiling. Jamie Spencer takes the mount, horse had an AW tune-up at Southwell two weeks ago, all systems go. EX- 2,7/2,3,7,8,9,11,13 Result: 2,7,6 Exacta: $73.90 Look Back Smiling ($20.60) was always traveling well into the race, had Jamie Spencer and Thunder Roar flying home right behind but held on for a sweet win.DON R4 (11:00am ET)- 6f (6f2y) Cammidge Trophy Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+) #1- Baradar (2-1) seems to be an all or nothing type, but has a fine Doncaster record (4//2-0-2). Amo Racing runner was third in the Lincoln here last year, looks to be more of a sprinter type now. Heavy ground plays to his strength also. # 6- Sophia's Starlight (10-1) gets 5lbs from the males, likes 6F and soft ground, danced a lot of big dances last year and deserves this shot at a Listed win. EX- 1,6/ALL Result: 3,2,4 William Haggas had Montassib ($8.40) prepared like a coiled spring, looked beaten at the furlong marker but just blasted home like the others were running in quicksand. Very impressive, that is one to follow this year in the sprint ranks. Wow. DON R5 (11:35am ET)- 1m (Str) Lincoln (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (4yo+) #7- Vetiver (14-1) progressive 4yo filly for Andrew Balding is a Listed winner in a handicap, hopefully she can sit off the pace today despite the addition of blinkers, still has room for improvement with only seven starts. #10- Chazzesmee (5-1) has improved leaps and bounds in last four starts, won the Irish Lincolnshire on Monday, runs right back over favored ground and could produce an historic double. Casting a wide net underneath. EX- 7,10/4,5,6,7,9,10,12,14,17 Result: 15,12,11,22 On paper, or any other surface, I couldn't come up with Mr. Professor ($85.40). Horse beat Westover as a 2yo but then did absolutely nothing of note thereafter until today. Can't wait to hear from the trainer on this one. Owner Kia Joorabchian has moved a number of his runners over to Davis's yard, as he is wont to do, will watch other runners with a raised eye going forward. 41-1, 24-1, 31-1 for the first three home. Exacta paid $1296.70 for a buck, triple was an astounding $16,129.60 .DON R6 (12:10am ET)- 1m2f (1m2f43y) Maiden Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 5) (3yo) No bets. Winning day to start the season, Doncaster runs again tomorrow, then up to CherokeeScot's stomping grounds for Musselburgh and the Queen's Cup next Saturday. TW

Having a small wager on Parlando in The Lincoln. Should be fit after wintering in Bahrain and is a big price.

4:10 Aulis in a shocker GL I like the yard, but not sure about Aulis for the win today. Distance should help. Wild Waves would have been my selection FWIW. Good luck Doc. TW

Was a breeding play as broodmare sire Adlerflug loved it soft and sired the '21 Arc winner in heavy going at 70-1.
