This was a devastating accident and makes one realize how much risk jockeys face every day. Condolescences and prayers out to his family and fans.
I thought perhaps a mystical connection somewhere, he was riding "Love Rules", and that Mr. Flores was indeed, doing what he loves in this life.

“The entire Parx Racing team is deeply saddened by the loss of Parx Hall of Fame Jockey, Jose Flores, who died from injuries suffered in a racing accident on Monday afternoon. Jose was an outstanding jockey who was greatly admired for both his superb talent and his wonderful personality. He embodied all that is good in the world of horse racing, and will be missed immensely. We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to his family, friends and the entire racing community.”
An organ donor, he was kept on life support while his parents traveled from Florida to say their goodbyes and until a time could be coordinated with surgeons and organ recipients.
Flores died at 12:42 p.m. Eastern on Thursday after being taken off life support. R.I.P.
