It has to be the great Mick Ronson, who left us way too soon (though Joe Walsh is probably in that discussion). Mick was fantastic live. So glad I got to see him live with Ian Hunter since I missed him in The Spiders from Mars, and when he played with Dylan.

Mick also helped produce Lou Reed's Transformer album and John Mellencamp credits him with saving his hit Jack and Diane from the scrapheap by suggesting a different arrangement and chorus which made the song work.
