I have a Zoom meeting this morning, and this is all very new to me. It's my pre-procedure class to prepare me for my first ever colonoscopy. Last time i saw the doctor, he looked at my chart and said "This can't be right." He said "according to this, you've never had a colonoscopy and you're 63 years old." I explained to the doctor that about 10 years ago I prepared myself to have one. Went to the doctor expecting to have the procedure, only to be given a prescription to go across the street and make an appointment to have it done. Wait a minute! I paid this guy $75 just to make an appointment for a colonoscopy sometime in the future? I was ready to go THAT day... not some other day. My mind was right and I was ready to go.
Never went back.
Anyway... my current doctor was having none of it and said. "You're getting a colonoscopy!" So, today @ 11am. I'll be in a Zoom meeting learning what to expect and how to prepare.
I must admit... I'm a little bit nervous.

Prep worse than the procedure Dell. Mild anesthesia so you will need a ride home. I have it done every 10 years, preventative. Wisdom tooth extraction was worse.

I'm 55 and have had it done several times already.
Agree with previous comments, the prep is far worse than the procedure.
Make sure you are near a toilet at all times while in prep mode.
The best part for me is waking up after the procedure. You feel really well rested upon awakening. Like you've slept for days. Must be the drugs they give you to put you to sleep.
Anyway, you will be fine.

I've had 4 or 5 I think (because of a history of polyps).
My best advice on the prep- they say you can mix the Laxatives they give you with a variety of liquids- I have tried many and the one that worked by far the best for me, with minimal cramps was flat ginger ale. I buy a bunch of ginger ale and take the caps off a day or two ahead of time.
Everybody is different and can have different experiences, but that is what worked for me.

it was the best nap ever! 2 late now but IN THE FUTURE don't take internet friends' advice on mixing things with your prep juice there are many different ways it's done and they are NOTNOTNOT™ interchangable

So, No Gray Goose. Got it.
24 hours of clear liquid diet. No fruit no veggies no popcorn no seeds no nuts. Sprite and ginger ale were suggested in the zoom meeting. Have to finish half a gallon of liquid laxative the night before and the other half in the early morning hours before the procedure. That's a lot of drinkin'.
Thank you folks for your responses. I appreciate reading your experiences about what I might expect. The prep is going to be rough and I'm going to be hungry, but I am looking forward to the nap. Stay healthy everybody!
I'm scheduled for March 14th.
I'm going to try that flat ginger ale trick.🙂

Don’t make it more than it is—-esp if you have no symptoms/issues—you are due to find out—-a normal occurrence as u age Aging only beats the alternative
Hopefully nothing is discovered and u r good to go!
