Hope she does well in the shed. Nice filly, if anyone but Lukas trained she probably never would have run 18 times and had an ITM percentage of 78% and earned almost $2.5 million. Nice homebred filly by owner/breeder Briland Farm (Robt and Stacy Mitchell).
I was not her "biggest fan" despite I saw all her races at Oaklawn, which she won except for one.....but her record shows she was pretty talented.

Thought her Azeri win this year might have been her best effort.

Thought her Azeri win this year might have been her best effort. Yeah, I always thought that was an interesting race because the "two chalks" stayed dead last for most of the race, let the other horses exhaust themselves on the front end, and then both came running wide, after the last turn, and turned on their jet packs. Secret Oath looked gorgeous in that race, big girl. I guess I shouldn't say I didn't like her, it was more that I was 1000% against her in the AR Derby, and she went off as the favorite and I did try to talk friends off her (I had good reasons at the time) and she did run 3rd. I started to like her more after that, so I probably using "selective memory" saying I wasn't a huge fan based more on just that particular race. A few things I've noticed hanging out in the paddocks at OP for many years. Lukas always manages to pick out gorgeous looking horses, and they always have the kind of pedigrees I like. He had a few that made me swoon. Had one by Curlin named Stock Deal, who took 8 races to break maiden or even run ITM. But that horse was one of the best looking I have ever seen, had a white streak across the bottom of his belly, but you didn't see it unless you were watching him get saddled. Even the analysts were saying what a looker. I also remember Dublin, you'd look out over the paddock dividers and he just towered over every horse in height. Other things I always noticed is Larry Jones saddling his own horses in the paddock and giving them leg stretches. That's a genuine cowboy gentleman there. Steve Asmussen probably has the most talented groomers. Every horse, even if running in a claimer with no shot, is groomed up and braided as if they were going to win a G1 race. I can really respect that, it respects the horse. And I really miss Jack van Berg. He was always by the doors by the paddocks. I also followed his career and think he got more into the water/hay/oats frame of mind as he matured, would have loved to get his thoughts on HISA which he would have supported wholeheartedly. Oaklawn used to be a pretty small universe, you'd be standing next to the big name trainers watching races together, or sitting on the "bench" next to them. I used to call it Group W Bench. I've overhead some cell phone conversations at that track that I probably shouldn't have, standing in the oyster bar, etc. LOL It's not very small anymore like it was 15 years ago. Knew that was going to happen with each "expansion".
