Why Saratoga is the only track that I have seen take races off the turf, keep a couple on, but DO NOT SCRATCH the Main Track Only's. So what if more rains move in, they scratch those races and the main track onlys are allowed to run? So people like me who like to play horse tourneys, pick and pray, do what? We get screwed, the betting public gets screwed. Pisses me off. Either keep the races on and scratch the MTO or take the races off. No in between with me. Be transparent.

Saratoga.....just not putting on a meet that says we give a shit about the bettor. Losing some of the luster of years past.

Saratoga (NYRA) doesn't know or care that you are playing in a HT event, they have nothing to do with Horse Tourneys. They are a business trying to maximize income/revenue, and they are trying to hold races together based on all potential situations (rain later in the day.) Agree that it complicates things for 'contest' players, but I don't see how they are at fault because people are participating in an outside pursuit that is a derivative of their program.
The other concern for NYRA is horse safety. They are definitely not going to keep a race on the grass if the conditions may be unsafe, especially in these new HISA times and especially after the meet they've had so far. They also don't want to chew up an already beat up turf course with nine days left in the meet, but they have an obligation to try to run stakes races, and higher-class undercard races, on the designated surface. If they scratch all the MTOs and get more rain, they could end up with a two-horse race, a walkover, or a cancelled event. At which point the boo-birds will have the knives out because they scratched the MTOs early. No win situation.

I get both sides of the conversation. I am also frustrated with NYRA’s knee jerk last minute decisions(which only matters to me…) I have pretty much given up on turf racing there, and am puzzled by allowing so many turf sprints(which do far more damage to the course). The turf courses have proven not to be safe.
The weather has been frustrating and impacting. I had a very bad storm Thursday morning, which should head that way last night or today.
I have chosen to 75% leave that place alone this year.

I get it in the world we live in who cares about transparency. I get it the horse bettor has never been number 1 priority to these tracks, trainers, owners etc.. It is funny without the bettor racing doesn't exist, same with any other sport. So lets say I am at the track, playing a pick 6, a couple of races are scheduled on the turf. Boom, last minute cancel of those races after the pick 6 started. What happens, well everybody gets all. I believe this just recently happen at Saratoga. You think they would learn, but I guess not. In this world it seems the "small man" always takes the shaft.

Nine days, eleven days......either way not going to miss it. Boring comes to mind on the running of this meet. For some reason with the passing of Marylou Whitney Saratoga seems to have lost some luster. Maybe it's just me. (where it used to be a meet I anticipated, now, not so much)

It is funny without the bettor racing doesn't exist, same with any other sport. It's been 13 years and I still don't know whether or not Uncle Mo had surgery after his win in the BC Juvy. Did Repole ever say? U.S. racing seems to have the same transparency as the vaults from Egypt and Peru where the mummies are unearthed from where they rested for 100s of years, and even once the archeologists dig them up, anthropologists with high-tech can't discover all their "secrets". Anyway on to more important stuff: what is last day at SAR, i have only ONE pick left in the contest.
