No surprise there, if he has an ego, I've never seen it displayed. He just deflects all the credit, keeps everything light. Top man. Deauville- GOING: Very soft DEA R4 (9:50am ET)- 1m2f Prix Jean Romanet (Group 1) (4yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Round Course) (Turf)www.racingpost.com/racecards/206/deauville/2023-08-20/848036Playing against probable favorite #3- Via Sistina as I'm not convinced she'll show her best over the deep ground. #4- Above the Curve (4-1) was a progressive 3yo filly that handled soft French turf twice, won a GII at Saint-Cloud in May over my other selection, #7- Mqse De Sevigne (5-2) which nabbed a GI victory here last month in the Prix Rothschild turned back to a mile. QUI- 4,7/1,2,3,5 DEA R5 (10:25am ET)- 6f Prix Morny (Group 1) (2yo No Geldings) (Straight Course) (Turf)www.racingpost.com/racecards/206/deauville/2023-08-20/848037#6- Vandeek (7-2) is an $815K son of Havana Grey, and that's a lot of money for a colt out of an unproven, now sophomore sire. Undefeated in two starts for the Crisford barn, won the Richmond S. (GII) at Goodwood last time, both wins over soft ground, lots to like with this one, and he's a gray. #9- Ramatuelle (6-5) takes on the boys (gets 3lbs.), daughter of Justify is a head away from being a perfect four-for-four, already a GIII & GII heroine. Bred to get farther, would love to see them try the BC JF Turf later this year. Exciting filly for Christopher Head. QUI- 6,9/4,7,8 DEA R6 (11:00am ET)- 1m7f Prix Kergorlay (Group 2) (3yo+) (Round Course) (Turf)www.racingpost.com/racecards/206/deauville/2023-08-20/848090Seems like a two-horse battle between #1- The Good Man (5-2) which has been very consistent the last two seasons (10/3-3-3), and #2- Sober (4-1) which has run against the top one the last trice, getting a neck in front in Longchamp GII two back. Don't know if #6- Grand Alliance (20-1) can get the added distance today, but handled soft/heavy ground at Newbury previously and Charlie Fellowes wouldn't ship here on a whim. QUI- 1,2/6 Busy Saturday with stakes action at the Curragh, Pontefract, Woodbine, along with solid handicap action at Sandown Park. Oh yeah, Saratoga may actually be fast and firm today (sunny, 84F.) Good luck if you play, and you should! TW
