So the NYRA stewards took all of 90 seconds to decide Forte was good to go, Irad did nothing wrong. So now, every other jockey can pull crap like that and expect the same? What a Sh*tshow! Like a f'in Nascar race...(I had no wagers, BTW).

Didn't Irad punch Paco Lopez some years ago? Feels like Irad may get punched one of these days.

Agree. He slammed Angel of Empire off stride a couple of times. I thought he was coming down and was surprised it took so little time as you noted.

“Interesting” that the head on view of the replay isn’t available. Maybe it will be later.

I detest the Saratoga stewards. Absolutely one of the worst crews around for me. Irad guided Forte deliberately into Angel of Empire to make a path, seen that before and while I don't really agree with it that move seems to be forgiven most places, but when Flavien didn't back off Irad went to the left hand whip making sure Forte came out again into Flavien. Somebody is going to punch him out, especially if stewards keep letting him get away with shXt like that.

And we wonder why fans are leaving the sport. Blatant foul, using the left hand whip multiple times driving right into the horse. Should be some kind of stewards review board. Seeing this crap way too often.

In other jockey news, I love ❤️ Katie Davis! Sister gets second, print that story.

I'm really glad you started this thread, Tom. Jose' interfered with my #6 horse the other day, 'He's a Lucky Guy', not very lucky. The Ortiz Brothers are dangerous, someone is going to get hurt, or worse, or maybe one of the horses. The stewards are ignoring blatant interferences. What are they waiting for? Another jockey to have a career ending injury? Do they WANT to see a horse have to be put down because of the Ortiz brothers wreckless behavior? I'm very upset about this, as you can tell.

I second that Tom. Great day for the Davis family!

So, what happens when Irad does that, clips heels and someone gets severely injured.
Who gets sued?

Dumb question.
Everyone gets sued!

Irad is reckless. Everyone knows this and sits on the edge of their seat wondering when he will get a horse or other jockey killed or maimed. Yet, people are rah rah rah about him. Over the pond he'd not be riding at all, they wouldn't put up with it. So it's not about the horses, it's about allowing this kind of jockey out on the track. Aggressive +reckless not a good combo IMHO. I'm not a fan. ANY race Irad rides in is the wild wild west. Keep him up there in NY where he has a huge fan base maybe.
I like the brother, he has more finesse.
Meanwhile, though, I am kinda glad Forte "won". His other wins were on clear/fast, and I think he did a good job in the slop......he tried hard. I just like that horse, I can't help it. NEVER LASIXED in whole career. (Ditto all the horses who won the superfecta in Derby 2022 and the Belmont Stakes winner 2022). I'll stick with that. I say Bravo to that.
Cox had 3 horses in a field of 5........no tears. AOE is always 3rd, and his place horse was good, but Hit Show not so good. I'm actually not a Brad Cox fan, to be honest. I won't say more or why lest I be sued for slander. hahahaha He's a staple at Oaklawn. yawn.
Also glad to see Diodoro not doing great at SAR......I wish some other track would take him because he's at Oaklawn constantly and I have to skip all the races he has horses in.

In other words, I like it when horses like Forte win big races, so that hopefully when he goes to the shed, breeders will want to breed to him. This is about more than just "a race" to me. Its about the future of the TB breed.......we don't need to be sending more "bleeders" to the shed, and we know that he has always been lasix-free. That counts for somethin'. And is IMHO more important than The Jim Dandy race in and of itself. As bettors, of course, it won't be the first or last time you get srwed by steward calls. Nor by bad / good jockey rides. We're all pretty used to THAT.

We're all pretty used to THAT. I didn't bet the race, so I didn't get screwed by the stewards call. He should have been DQ'd and their lack of penalizing him for that ride leads one to question as you said in your previous post, "...when he will get a horse or other jockey killed or maimed." He'll do just fine in the breeding shed -- DQ'd or not from the Jim Dandy.

Call me crazy but I seen way worse not get taken down. Angel of Empire (Cox Horse) tried to pin him in, Saudi Crown (Cox Horse) started coming over. Yes Irad was aggressive trying to get out. It's riding you see it everyday from many jocks. Just my 2 cents
To me the story of Saturday was how the track was labeled fast and firm. Scratches came out. Main Track only horses were not scratched like normal. Race 5 comes in rains, small delay, still racing remains on turf, but Main Track only's still not scratched. Race 6 they run on Turf, no problem. Then all of a sudden they take all of the races off the turf, Main Track Only horses are allowed to run. So basically if you entered a pick and pray contest or went to the track and made bets prior, you got screwed. IF they knew it was going to rain and they knew they were going to take these races off the turf, then they should have made the call before racing started. The way they kept the Main Track Only Horses in there tells me they KNEW they were taking theses races off. Not sure why they allowed race 6 to run. Am I the only one that thought this was not done right?

I had a vested interest in Saudi Crown winning so perhaps sour grapes but I was less than pleased with the decision…. Well I was pissed to be frank. Despite what happened with AoE, he literally knocked SC off stride near the wire in a race won by a nose! How he stays up is beyond me…. Done with the Spa for a bit.

Maybe an old pilot adage is appropriate here, and could apply to horse race riding, as well as flying:
"There are old pilots and there are bold pilots.
But there are no old, bold pilots."

Didn't Irad punch Paco Lopez some years ago? Feels like Irad may get punched one of these days. As if that would keep his recklessness at bay and he would not be a constant threat to other riders and horses. Did ya'll see Jim Crowley was suspended 20 days and fined 10 thousand pounds for his ride on Hukum for excessive whip use. Irad would be bankrupt if he was under BHA. Which is why I say that many riders who ride here wouldn't have careers over the pond. They have been ruled out and off a long time ago. If you wanna punch somebody, "hit em in their pocketbook". That has always been my mantra.
