Just finished my 18th Louise Penny novel . Most enjoyable but I donโt think Sounds of Saratoga would enjoy it as much as I did ๐

All right, I'm going to have to give them a try, My wife has been enjoying them for years, but for whatever reason, I haven't jumped in. Is it important to start with the first or not necessarily?
I'm finishing Up Country by Nelson Demille (a reread for me, this time I'm listening to the audio version, which is excellent. I think it is my favorite of all the DeMille books.

shoes , each novel stands alone but there are multiple references to previous events. Itโs only taken me two years to get through all 18 ๐

i watch the "story channel" frequently bcuz it is not only sumx monotonous and the dulcet sounds put me to sleep (the story of eggs) but also cuz i learn things about people and places that i thought i knew but didn't. INTERVEIW WITH A VAMPIRE was a life-changing book 4 me i knew about rice's beginnings as an author and death but knot her catholicism and hippie home-life

The last books I read were a series of three by Carlos Castaneda Called The Teachings of Don Juan. About meeting with Don Juan in Arizona and being introduced to peyote. He has hallucinations that he describes that are amazing.Great reads but I read them some 40 years ago when I was smoking a lot of weed. COPD has pretty much taken smoking anything away.Hello gummies!

Do you sit on the deck at Georgie's and read them? Must be a new experience for the clientele. I've been listening to Bill Bryson's works on audiobooks for a while now. If you like humorous but in-depth looks at travel, home life, and how-things-work, he's your guy. The Hollywood production of his "A Walk in the Woods" was okay, and Nick Nolte was great as his buddy Katz, but listening to the author reading his own stuff is the best part for me. He has a pleasing tone to my ear. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/authorpage/bill-bryson.htmlTW

I like Coben. Just finishing up my first Louise Penny-Trick of the Light. I think it might be the 7th one or so. I didn't start at the beginning of the series only because my wife had 3 of the books in her audible library (which she shares with me). It's possible there may be some hard copies of others stashed around somewhere, though when we last moved 8 or so years ago we donated many hundreds of books, so they may be gone. After I read these 3, I'll check the library. I read a lot but I'm no match for my wife.
PS- I also just downloaded non fiction Dark City by Eddie Muller which is a study of film noir. I'm a big fan of Eddie's intros on noir films shown on Turner Classic Movies.
