He isn’t wrong! I have a hard time believing so many distinct factions will ever come together for the common good as too many selfish interests and let’s be real, the main issue, too much money, out there for most to take a “for the good of the sport” approach. I live and breathe this industry.. It’s my livelihood, provides for my family, and I really enjoy the sport. I enjoyed Belmont day with less than $100 combined in wagers on the day so certainly not about the wagering chase. I’ve bred, sold, owned, and raced horses at various levels and honestly, there is just no way I’d get back in at this time. So much is wrong and the playing field is far from even. Perhaps the pendulum is swinging back a bit the other way with barns like the that of the Derby and Belmont winners, but unless real change takes place, the days of the sport I love are numbered.
