Ogen Utah........seems like one of those backyard races where you race against friends with horses for bragging rights. (Up late to watch Sodashi, Stars on Earth and Songline race in the Victoria Stakes.) Oh my , what a valiant run by Sodashi, jockey got her all the way out from barrier 16 and she and Songline almost hit together but Songline got there first. It had started raining and they were running into the rain in their faces. What a beautiful race though. I had Songline to win at 7-1 so that was a happy for me played with Sodashi at 3-1 for exacta. Those were very good odds.....everyone went with Stars on Earth who ran 3rd. Hard to believe the exacta paid $45.35 on those 2

Hoop, no wagering allowed in Utah. Those listed $1 races are "schooling races" and are charted in Equibase as "Cancelled - Management decision". Looks like they all pay $100 to start in the schooling race with $85 going to the "jockey fee". Most of the other races are quarter horse trials for an upcoming stake or futurity. Wish we had this many camera angles for replays at the major tracks...

The Victoria Mile, although I got the nice paying exacta because everyone went with Stars on Earth.........I also experienced the worst beat of my entire year.
I had the 6-16-2 and added the 224-1 #13. I was all ready to play the superfecta, then realized they don't offer it.
Only the Super High Five. So I puut a few horses into 5th place..........and got them wrong. Using ALL with 16 horses was too pricey.
But had the superfecta been offered I nailed it.
And what is worse, nobody hit the super high five...it became a carryover and would have paid $4,474.22
$1 EXACTA 6/16 $45.35 $0.20 TRIFECTA 6/16/2 $31.82 SUPER HIGH FIVE Carryover $4,474.22

$1. With 16 horses in that race, that's a bit of a $$ risk for a recreational player, and I stick with a very strict budget. I keep 20% of my winnings in my AWD platform, and 75% of my winning go into my bank account (It's really 80% but I take 5% at the end of the year when my accountant does my taxes goes to one of the many horse retirement and/or jockey injury fund. Sometimes Doctors Without Borders or my Public Libraries. I mix it up. ) My wagers are very small compared to many people. My goal is simply to "finance" my hobby, i.e. if I go to the track, can pay parking, spring for a nice lunch and refreshments, and make a few wagers, and go home with more than I came with, or even, I'm very happy. Horse race betting is merely a hobby for me and I don't run to the ATM .... I stick with a budget and I have it pretty much written in stone each month.
