I have never liked blinkers on horses as I don't like to remove sensory faculties, but I can see where they would be necessary. Had to laugh at Pletcher's comment, so true: "You look at a bush by the eighth pole, and to you it’s a bush by the eighth pole. To a horse, it’s a panther.” Anyway, I was right when I may or may not have related here a post where I said I can't remember seeing a lot of Asmussen's horses wearing blinks, even watching them in the saddling paddocks at OP.........and it seems his history wasn't putting blinks on his best horses, which is why I knew when he put them on RRO that wasn't "a good sign" and my heart sunk a little. Of course I can also see where they are necessary. Kerry Thomas taught me a little about blinks, too.
