Good card and excited to really kick off the spring. Weather decent but if you can get here next week it will be glorious!
A few thoughts early on the day:
Race 2: Forenoon for Mott a Juddmonte out of a half to Close Hatches. The path here looks a look like Caramel Swirl a couple years back and she was ultra impressive here.
Race 3: will try to beat a likely heavy fav in Cox’s 3 with 6 over 1 who ran with the best this winter at FG
Race 5: maybe not heavily to win but certainly underneath, using Ro Town the 11 at a price.
Race 6: same logic with a price under Ward turf sprinting in Dressed
Race 7: Corona Bolt, singled and Lugan Knight under
Race 8: competitive one for sure. Hearing likely heavy fav in Carl Spackler will scratch and if true, wide open and need to decide between 3-7-8-9
Race 9: Wonder Wheel is your Oaks winner and shows it here.
Best of luck all

Carl Spackler is scratched…. The Chad Brown barn is missing a great opportunity not running a horse of that on Masters weekend! I could already here the final call from Kurt Becker… “It’s in the hole… Carl Spackler wins the Transylvania!”

R8- Transylvania S.
#8- Candidate (7-1) looks good at a solid price. Progressive colt won the Dania Beach over Major Dude for his third consecutive victory, then rated a bit and ran second to that rival in GIII Kitten's Joy. Rosario probably lets Irad go to the front (from PP11) along with any pretender(s), could sit a nice outside stalking trip. Win play, and on top with Nagirroc (saver) in exactas.
WIN- 8 EX- 8,9/2,7,8,9,12

Very puzzling effort from Wonder Wheel there. Not sure if they would look at the Oaks following that or not. Knee jerk reaction with the short stretch, fairly soft pace, give me Julia Shining out of that with her effort today in 4 weeks.

The winner flatters Wet Paint. Going to see how the Santa Anita Oaks goes tomorrow (and to a lesser extent The Gazelle, but at this point the Oaks seems pretty open. I agree that Julia Shining could be a play. I also need to take a close look at the Fairgrounds winner. Wonder Wheel doesn't look like she has improved as a 3 year old at all (at least per Bris figs). Her last out was pretty dull also-

I didn't log in til R5. I was just a tad "off" today at Keenland, a track I don't play or know well. I had the 4 correct horses for the superfecta in R5, inlcuding the longshot Charlee Mae, but I keyed #6 Vahva, and Positano Sunset beat me .....there went a $6,000 win. I should have boxed but I REALLY liked Vahva. And in the Ashland I did play Julia Shining to win, had her in my stable notifications and she ran 3rd. In R8 I liked Delacour's Candidate #8, seemed like the right horse for the distance and Class of the field...........and he ran out of the money. So not a great day for me at KEE. Switched over to the track I play most often, Oaklawn, and played back Pepperonikid, a longshot I played last time he ran, 15-1 m/l went to 12-1 and this time he rewarded me with $26 win. In R9 played Maker's horse Red Run, 12-1 M/L, stayed 12/1 at post and he ran 3rd for $5.60 I try to stick with tracks I know. Which is why prep races all over the country is really hard for me, I never know what the track bias is going to be and don't know how they play that well.
