The Flat is back! Opening day of turf racing on the flat (not over jumps) in GB. Ireland opened last Saturday at the Curragh, where I (redboard) had the $1 exacta ( www.attheraces.com/racecard/Curragh/25-March-2023/1525 ) in their Lincolnshire Handicap .
Weather looks wet this week, so soft-to-heavy ground is anticipated. Feature race is the Lincoln Handicap (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Handicap) at a straight mile. The connections of 69 horses have held their ground as of this morning, with a maximum field of 22 permitted; horses which are excluded can run in the Spring Mile on the same racecard, with highweights preferred. The opening race is the Brocklesby Stakes for unraced 2yos going 5F, and it typically draws some exciting, well-bred precocious types. There are also two Listed stakes, the 6F Cammidge Trophy, and the Doncaster Mile for older horses.
While you are waiting around for the Florida and Arkansas Derby cards to commence, give a look at Doncaster. First race is at 9:50am ET. You can watch and wager on twinspires & tvg among others.
DON R1 (8:50am ET)- 5f Brocklesby Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 2) (2yo)
