There was an incredibly deadly chemical spill and subsequent “managed” fire happening this week in northeastern Ohio.
This town/area is seriously poisoned for probably eternity. Pretty much everything within range of the chemicals is destroyed and untouchable. Emergency responders initially had no clue as to how dangerous the situation had become.
The railroad company is failing their responsibility, and local/state bureaucrats are in way over their heads. The feds are just beginning to take notice and hopefully some action. FEMA for chemical disasters I assume?? Pete B from Transportation should be there with the railroad and associated regulators?
The residents over an extended area have lost everything for maybe forever? Be careful…. It could happen to any of us…..

I worked for a freight railroad and a passenger railroad and safety, maintainance and staffing were p!ssed on. Guarantee that inspection records have been falsified by Norfolk Southern employees.

2015 30,500 employees 2022 19,300 employees Amid the lobbying blitz against stronger transportation safety regulations, Norfolk Southern paid executives millions and spent billions on stock buybacks — all while the company shed thousands of employees despite warnings that understaffing is intensifying safety risks. Norfolk Southern officials also fought off a shareholder initiative that could have required company executives to “assess, review, and mitigate risks of hazardous material transportation.” www.levernews.com/rail-companies-blocked-safety-rules-before-ohio-derailment/

interesting hooper....
Obviously the feds are on the take also. They have "trusted" Norfolk Southern to handle the clean up and assessment of the situation so far, and at the town meetings since, have cancelled and failed to send representatives to meet citizens and bureaucrats to give information and answer questions. NO POLITICS, Petey B and KJP have been incredibly silent so far, and are way behind in providing fed guidance and assistance in whatever remedies are possible. The impact and liabilities here are beyond measure.
I worked with animal rescue for years in a wooded area adjacent to a junkyard along railroad tracks, watching Norfolk Southern trains pass closely by. Probably carrying the same poison cargoes. Fortunately no spills or leaks THAT I KNOW OF....
So little news coverage..... why??

I've experienced it since early 70's. Seen supervisors change inspections reports to maintain track speeds. Same supervisors then take jobs with FRA. Systemic, nothing new for those in the industry. Do a soil sample in any railroad yard...

Best bet is NTSB. Was involved with one of their investigations and they are pretty thorough but after the fact.

This will be the cause of serious health issues, resulting in a catastrophic # of deaths. The wildlife and natural elements are seeing this already. No deranged lone killer or planned up front massacre getting sensationalist headlines. Instead an initial corporate/fed cover-up since the results and liabilities will be beyond any meaningful result. Lawyers seem to be controlling the railroad by minimizing contact and action, with the fed seemingly hand in hand with them…. So far This is going to be ??

Looks as if you were spot on, Hooper…. Seems the railroads have total control of these situations and areas surrounding the tracks. Local and state officials have little control in deference to the railroads. For example——EPA did NOT do any of the initial air/water/soil sampling, instead allowing the railroads to hire their chosen testing agency, who of course immediately approved all the above health concerns…..
Seems the public and local govt officials didn’t buy in to that, and subsequent testing is showing differing results.
NO POLITICS/Petey B/fed initially denied govt services as being not sufficient to merit a response since 71% of the area population voted for NO POLITICS (they deserve to be poisoned I assume). Buttegieg blamed everything on NO POLITICS and has pretty much blown off the whole situation.
Plus we have NO POLITICS’s recent approved emergency contract with the railroad unions getting mention. Seems the workers really didn’t approve it and were forced in to it. Not that it would have changed anything…..
So C where are all of our green environmentalists and climate agencies and activists?

Won't hear all the "good stuff" without a whistelblower. Little to no difference in how administrations react from my inside experiences. Research the 1926 Railway Labor Act and revisions the last 90+ years in how we got here.

Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted Can't help but wonder what's happenin' to my companions Are they lost or are they found? Have they counted the cost it'll take to bring down All their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon? There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend

GFR went south after Mark Farner cut his hair and the We're an American Band LP came out. They do still hold the record for selling out the fastest when they played at Yankee Stadium. VERY popular band. E Pluribus Funk was an outstanding LP. To each they're own spiderman.
