I use it every day, in and out of my car. Listened to Underground Garage all day today. It’s free for six months in my new truck,

I have been with XM for about as long as you Elk and I listen at home and in the car every single day. They do have some racing on channel 201 (XM- Sirius might be a different number) including Steve Byk's program and some live racing and horseracing talk.

We have it in my wife's car but we've never had to pay for it. I always thought it just comes free with the car

Thanks Shoes, I mostly listen in the car which has a bit older Sirius unit that won't pull some of the XM channels for some reason. I do get the others online, but don't think of it often. I'll check out XM201.

Sirius XM is a pleasure to listen to with its variety of programming for every taste. We just don't do enough driving anymore to justify a subscription. After the initial introductory 6 month subscription that came with our new car lapsed, we did not renew. Sirius XM recently offered a free 2 month "welcome back" subscription, which we accepted. It has about a month to run. Since accepting the offer, we have been inundated with reminders by e-mail and snail mail that the 2 month subscription is about to expire and we should consider renewing with a wide range of long term programs. Those folks are very persistent in their marketing. This is with a month to go - I can just imaging how aggressive they will get in the final week or so. I suppose that's the price you pay for a "free" offer.

Joly - what brand of car did you guy? I bought my wife a Nissan Murano Platinum. It came with Sirius installed. It's still installed and we have yet to pay a penny for it. Is there a Sirius option that correlates to standard AM & FM everyday programming that everyone can get free? I know I can get just about every MLB and NFL game - and probably NBA and NHL - if I looked for them. I don't drive her car a lot, I'm a pickup truck guy. Bought a 2000 F150 back then and still have it. It's like a member of the family now.

Bobtailnag, our most recent car is a Chevy Traverse. At the time of acquisition, there was a program to activate Sirius XM for a free 6 month period. I suspect that each manufacturer might have a slightly different deal with Sirius. We have yet to exhaust the number of available channels; there is something for everyone - 50's on 5 is good for some nostalgia, Steve Byk's "At The Races" on 201 is a treat from 9-12 in the morning and there is even a channel with some kid's music when our grandchildren are riding with us.

Forgot to mention her car is over 5 years old now and also get emails from Sirius almost daily announcing upgrades or additions and new options (at a fee) but we don't even look at them.

I've had XM for many many years in various cars. I go through the same process every 6 months, a day before my 6 month subscription is ready to end and my contract is going to go to full price. I call up to cancel and explain that I'll keep it if I can get the same deal I had before, which is 6 months for $30 plus taxes and fees. They'll offer other so called deals first, but I keep saying no until they come back with what I have now. About 2 years ago, I asked to have online streaming added for free and they did. It's supposed to be included now for all plans, but if you use my strategy to renew every 6 months, make sure it's included. Apparently they have some "lite" version that doesn't include streaming. Love streaming through amazon fire tv and listening through my stereo.

One thing I don’t like about XM is that they play the short version of songs. I see no reason for that and feel we are getting ripped off. After all, it’s not like there are time restraints due to running commercials. What gives with that?
