Are your Huskies coming back to The Big East? If so we'll have to get together for a Friars-Huskies game. Hooper

It sure seems to be heading in that direction, possibly for the 20-21 season. From a basketball point of view, that would be fantastic. Back when the Big East was formed, especially before it started expanding, every game seemed like a battle. The regional rivalry between UConn and PC, or either of them against BC, was wonderful to watch.
There are still some hurdles to overcome, such as the exit fee from the AAC, how TV revenues get apportioned, and what in the world do you do with a football program (even a losing one) in an essentially basketball conference.

Seems like a natural but I had read could only happen if the football program was lowered to the lower class (forget the divisions currently). Kind of like Villanova's is currently.
As a Pitt alum/fan have to remember fondly the Pitt-UConn rivalry of last decade. May not have the same length of history as some of the others but the on-court battles are perhaps unsurpassed in the Big East history, at least in the expanded BE mode. I think three straight meetings in the BET Finals and some memorable regular season games, too.

Seems the UConn administration is saying the FB program won't be lowered but they will either have to find a new Conference or operate as an Indy, or, possibly, a new Conference with other unaffiliated schools will be formed.

I'm amazed at the speed with which this is apparently coming together. Local reports are that the Big East voted to invite UConn to the conference, then if the Conn AG approves the proposed agreement the Board of Trustees will meet tomorrow to vote on whether to accept. That could lead to a formal announcement as early as Thursday.
The status of football's affiliation will probably remain up in the air for a while as the various options are explored. Many locals have expressed pleasure in the new affiliation, since the AAC contract with ESPN would have caused both men's and women's basketball to be moved to the ESPN+ streaming platform rather than the excellent coverage available from SNY.
