As the NBA heads into the home stretch I'm looking for comments/predictions. Can anyone slow down Golden State? I think the Bucks just might. And what about Zion heading to the New Orleans Pelicans? Should be interesting to see where that goes...and finally, who would be your top 10 NBA centers of all time? Not so much their stats but just the best ones you enjoyed watching?
Mine would be (in no particular order)...
1. Kareem Jabbar 2. Larry Parrish 3. Wilt the Stilt 4. Moses Malone 5. Shaq 6. Wes Unseld 7. Artis Gilmore 8. Bill Walton 9. Dave Cowens 10. Jack Sigma

Ever hear of a guy named Russell, Spank?
I think Larry Parrish played baseball for the Expos. Do you mean Robert? Ahead of Wilt? Come on, now. Parrish was really good, but would be lucky to crack the top 10. And there is no stigma attached to being named Jack Sikma.
Speaking of the playoffs, I checked some sites today, and nosebleed seats for the finals start at about $500 ea. If you want the lower level, you can get seats nowhere near the floor--maybe 30-40 rows back--for about $2thou ea. Who buys these? Tech bros., no doubt. A few Stellas in front of the flat screen for yours truly.

No surprise Curry is making me reevaluate his talents. Hard to vision GS with Durant and Cousins returning. Even Draymond is playing at the top of his game.... The young stud for the Bucks is very impressive—-still expect frustration to get to him when the warriors attack his team from every angle. Have to give a shout out to Kawhi Leonard for the way he has been playing also!
Warriors in 5 at the most.....

Spank, of your list, I think only Jabbar, Wilt, Moses and Shaq belong for sure. Walton had the greatness, but did he play long enough to qualify?
You need Hakeem,Lanier, Ewing, Robinson for sure. Was Duncan a center or a forward? If you include him, you probably need McAdoo, who also played both.
I would lose, Sikma, Cowens, Parish, and Unseld.
Nate Thurmond was better than Artis.

Centers now are 3 pt shooters. What a different game.
Kawhi Leonard is the best player/MVP in the East and it isn't even close. The man carries his team even when he isn't scoring. Fantastic all around player.
I love watching the Greek freak but Kawhi is exceptional.

It's embarrassing to leave Bill Russell off that list. Top 3 for sure. Duncan was a forward from Wake Forrest. Gilmore just a cool goatee. Ok, so lets move on to the best 10 guards ever. I know these lists probably have many of the same players but how about this...if you had to start a team, what guards would you select in order?

Question: do you consider MJ a guard or more of a wing/small forward type. I always thought the latter, so I'll leave him out. Obviously, he's there if you count him as a guard. Absent Michael:
Oscar The Logo Magic Steph Hondo Stockton Cooz Clyde Nash The Beard/Westbrook, though I hate them both ;-)
Lots of good ones left out. Maybe differentiate between PG and SG?

I don't see how you can leave Jerry West off the short list. Kobe? I see MJ as a guard.

I didn't. Jerry West is "The Logo". And probably my favorite player on the list.
Kobe should be there. That was just an attitude call (my attitude).

Only I could screw this subject up...lol...ok, let's try best 5 power forwards? MJ was a guard as far I'm concerned. I agree Jerry West just edges out Oscar for me as the best. Gail Goodrich was pretty salty as well but a notch below...I thought Kobe was overrated but that;s just my opinion. Curry is being touted as the best ever by some but not me. Gervin was bad ass. Saw him play twice. The Iceman could ball with the best!

Malone Duncan McHale Garnett Pettit or Big E
p.s. Curry is not the best guard ever, but he is the best shooter. Ever. And he changed the game.

I would have BIrd #1 at the shooting forward, though he could certainly rebound. After Steph, best shooter ever. But McHale was their low post guy. LeBron has the bod, but more than half the time he brings the ball up.
Categories get readjusted. Back when they first started calling guys "power" forwards, the position was more of a muscular, enforcer type. Guys like Maurice Lucas, Charles Oakley, Luke Jackson were among the best. I might move Lucas to my #5, in any case. Malone had the body to be that type, but I think he had more of a scorer mentality.

Jerry Lucas? He is THE hometown legend—we have had quite a few great hs ballers here(9 state champs since the 50s) like butch and Chris carter, Luke Kennard etc though none have eclipsed big Luke. 79-1 in 3 years of hs, ncaa champ at Ohio State ( a 2nd to UC), Olympic gold and NBA championship(with whom?). Never thought of him as a great pro though. Surprised that gooch does...... He comes around here often.
Shooting forward—-power forward—-scoring guard—point guard—post player——it is very cloudy today
So many great players—re - thinking this has been enjoyable! And we are forgetting so many!

Spider, I don't. I was referring to Maurice Lucas. He was a beast. Will never forget Artis Gilmore running the length of floor in fear of him, after a dustup under the other basket. Lucas was the backbone of the Walton Blazers. And Artis, the much bigger man, lost a lot of respect that night.

Ok—makes sense Maurice was a mean one Not sure that he makes a “greats” list but your list... Never thought much of Gilmore either...

So, so many to think about- this is subject to revision:
I have Bill Russell and Wilt together at the top. No one was more accomplished in a team sport than Russell, he could certainly have scored more bit did not need to. Rebounding and defense was at the top. Could Wilt possibly be underrated? Probably not but so much of the film on him is from his later years when he was much thicker and moved slower -though still a huge force. But if you watch footage of him from 60, 61, 62 he had so many moves and was FAST for his size.
OK that's just the start, I have to sort the others out. I did appreciate the Bob Lanier shout-out because I was afraid that I'd be called a homer if I had him on my list.
