Not bad last week, giving out a few winners at Keeneland. Let's try these today.
Keeneland 8th - JENNIFER LYNETTE - this Casse gal comes back second off a layoff. Her first race back was a good belated run and she gets an extra 1/2 furlong today. She likes the turf and her 95 Beyer in a Grade 3 last summer at Woodbine, puts her in the mix at a big price. She has been working bullets and Leparoux picks up the mount.
Lady Aurelia is obviously the class and the horse to beat, but at very short odds, we'll try to beat her. Morticia and Triple Chelsea are other possibilities if you want to spread in horizontal wagers.
9th - HONOR UP - we'll try this guy as a live longshot. Ran Audible close in a NY State bred race and he's gone on to excel and currently might be second choice in the Derby.
Broke his maiden by 11 and Mott puts him in here, which is an unusual move for Mott. He tried the same move with Hofburg in the Florida Derby, and he ran second to the previously mentioned Audible. Greyvitos holds a decision over highly regarded Mourinho and it looks like he's recovered from his surgery. If he is, he's the horse to beat. Pony Up should be dangerous for Pletcher. Telekenesis and My Boy Jack if you want to go deeper.
10th - CAMBODIA - love this gal in here at a decent price. Was banging heads with some good ones in California last year, running Beyers in the 95-101 range and followed that up with a bangup 3rd in the BC Filly & Mare Turf against some top Euros. Working sharply and picks up Leparoux. This race is loaded and there are at least 5 horses that have a shot at the win. Chad Brown has 3 and La Coronel and Proctor's Ledge also have a shot.
Arkansas Derby - not a great betting race so we'll sit back and enjoy. Magnum Moon might be this good, but he will be tested by Solomini today. Quip tries to follow up on his Tampa Bay Derby win where he looked good earning a career best 94 Beyer. I have a future bet on Combatant, but he seems to be a hanger and needs to step up his game today to compete with these.
Good Luck
Steve
