US- Prairie Meadows- July 5th & 6th- Iowa Derby

The Festival of Racing happens every summer around the Fourth of July. Day One features the Iowa Sprint & Iowa Distaff. Day Two is a great card highlighted by the Iowa Oaks, Iowa Derby, and the Cornhusker Handicap (GIII.) Each day starts with three Quarter Horse races.

Familiar names over the two sessions this year are trainers Asmussen, Amoss, Cox, Wilkes, McPeek, Ward, Maker, and Rivelli.

Also of course, lynn chleborad, probably the winniest female trainer in the midwest. This clip, to me, is so "lynn". She is a super nice person who has an innate true love for horses

I went there last year for Derby Day. Nice place—connected to a casino, however a country fair atmosphere. Locally stabled runners dominated everything. Shippers were rarely a factor.
