R2- Godolphin Mile (Group 2) (Dirt) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-03-30/864108On paper it's a two horse battle between frontrunners #7- Saudi Crown (8-5) and Isolate. Saudi Crown was the better of the two in Riyadh, expecting the same result here. Maybe a cheap exacta without Isolate underneath. EX- 7/5,10,11,12 TW

R3- Dubai Gold Cup (Group 2) 16F (Turf) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-03-30/864109Landed on #2- Coltrane (8-1) for Andrew Balding/Oisin Murphy. His Ascot Gold Cup second and Lonsdale Cup victory at York, both over good-firm ground, point him out. Trainer Balding is on a roll right now. Siskany is a HFTC, but this might be the best field he's ever faced. Not sure that favored Tower Of London really wants this trip, and PP14 did Ryan Moore no favors. Spreading underneath hoping for a surprise. EX- 2/4,5,6,11,12,13,16 TW

great pics! I'm going to endorse Coltrane here as well. I think 8-1 is fair in what seems like a fairly evenly matched group among the top contenders. And I'll admit I do make the occasional name play as well, when I feel a bit uncertain about things.

R4- Al Quoz Sprint (Group 1) 6F (Turf) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-03-30/864110All the talk seems to center around the two 3yo fillies Star Of Mystery and Frost At Dawn, getting 13lbs from the older males, and the money seems to be heading that way too. I think #2- California Spangle (3-1) is the best horse, with lots of pace, and #4- Danyah (12-1) is coming into this in top form. Last year's winner will have to be even better this time, hoping he can stay on the best. EX- 2,4/2,3,4,6,11,12 TW

May try some triples going forward, they have a 20 cent minimum. Really hoping for a good performance from #5- Forever Young (3-5) in the UAE Derby, so he can head on to Louisville. I've got him in futures at 21-1. Already have Dornoch (9-1) and Catching Freedom (31-1), would be nice to have three on which I don't have to make additional bets. You know I could easily be adopted into the Hendry clan! Looking great and enjoy the day! Treading lightly in Dubai today as nothing stands out to me yet. I may try to beat Forever Young (foolishly?) who will take all the money with one of the AOB runners. like the pedigree on Henry Adams but recency and price on Navy Seal.
No way Catnip is 60-1 in the Dubai Turf right? Have to use underneath if he is somehow as think he hits the board.
Liberty Island my pick in the Sheena with Emily Upjohn on the firm going and distance she likes against a likely underlaid Auguste Rodin following his terrific ride/trip in the BC Turf
In the World Cup, I’d love to say no Baffert but not sure I can. The Russian horse would be an interesting story but figure one of the Japanese takes this, likely Derma. Not enough pace for Senor today at this track with only 7 going to post. I don’t see Laurel River as a 1 1/4 horse but does he get really really really brave on the lead? Doubt he gets away that easy going farther than ever before

Well, foolishly trying indeed. The time wasn’t impressive but the effort was by Forever Young. Wide throughout, took dirt, beat a southern hemisphere 3YO (really a 4yo). On to Louisville where I think he’ll take a ton of money but none of mine. Will make for more eyes on the 150th edition for sure but I hope he behaves in the paddock better than Derma did last year!

I do have him in pool 3 small win bet and boxed with Catching Freedom and Honor Marie, so I hope he shows up healthy and we'll see.

Thanks. Triple was $27 for each 20 cent wager, not bad with a 1-2 on top. Back in the black. TW

Meet the new UAE Ambassador from Scotland... Forever Young punches his ticket to Kentucky... Winning connections of the UAE Derby. Disappointed in trainer Yahagi-san's headgear today, looked like an old-lady-gardening-in-the-sun hat... TW
