Cherokeescot endured a marathon flight across the Pacific, and sends these shots from Flemington Racecourse, home of the Victoria Racing Club and the Melbourne Cup Carnival. The Victoria Derby was there yesterday/today, depending on which side of the International Dateline you are on. The famous Melbourne Cup, the "race that stops a nation", is on Tuesday, November 7th. Our intrepid reporter...  Springtime (southern hemisphere) in Melbourne. Temperate climate, in extreme southeastern Australia near the Tasman Sea.  Here's one for Dell, his heartthrob Makybe Diva...  It was Victoria Derby Day yesterday...  So, of course, Justify had two in the race, Verdad and Air Assault...  Sartorially, it is 'Black and White Day" for the patrons...    That's some grandstand. The Melbourne Cup runs tomorrow, errr, today at Flemington Racecourse. The sixteen hour time difference means that with a 3PM local post time for the Cup, the race is scheduled for 11PM EST tonight. Adjust your time accordingly in Chicago, Denver, and San Diego. She is onboard #21- Future History (20-1) in the big race. The favorite is #5- Vauban (9-2) trained by Irish jumps legend Willie Mullins and ridden by Ryan Moore, for owner Rich Ricci.
